NASCAR has tried to distance itself from Confederate flags ... But you can find the flags — a symbol of racism and hatred for so many — all over the place this weekend around Michigan International Speedway ... Across the road from the track, on private property, countless Confederate flags are for sale in a tent village ... They are being sold by independent vendors, who travel around the country, following the NASCAR circuit, selling official NASCAR merchandise mixed in with Confederate flags ... MIS track president Roger Curtis ... tried to put a spin on the issue, suggesting that nobody is buying the flags ... "I just bought it because they said I couldn't," said Carl Landenberger, 60, of Medina ...
