Why can't dems just shut up!? Newark Mayor Booker 'uncomforable' with attacks on Bain Capital

Newark Mayor Cory Booker (D) said on Meet the Press he was "uncomfortable" with the Obama campaign's attacks on Mitt Romney's record with Bain Capital.

Said Booker: "I'm not about to sit here and indict private equity. If you look at the totality of Bain Capital's record, they've done a lot to support businesses -- to grow businesses. And this to me, I'm very uncomfortable."

I hope WH doesn't cave to this. Dems always come off as victims to the bully republicans, like we are the weak wife who gets beaten and can't stand up for herself.

People are always thinking we are wusses.

It's more than time for us to fight back!

I'd say that shows quite a lot of solidarity among Democrats.

Not surprising, to read Steve Kornacki's comment in this Political Wire article:

"Financial support from Wall Street and, more broadly speaking, the investor class has been key to Booker's rise, and remains key to his future dreams."

not just any Democrat, I'm sure. And for his part, Booker is obliging them by trying to prove he would be an even MORE complicit minority Democrat - even more in the pocket of finance- than Obama has been.

Too much smoke from that fire. The Bain ads are TRUE. If Obama was lying about it, I would agree with Booker.

Capitalism.

The scary thing about Bain and therefore Mitt Romney, is the amount of control they demand and how single minded they are in execution.

This story is a must read:

http://features.blogs.fortune.cnn.com/2012/01/15/bain-fortune-1987/

You can now count me as being seriously petrified of a Mitt Romney Presidency.

George W. Bush was a buffoon. Mitt Romney is dangerous.

9. "private equity investment only has “a modest net impact on employment.”"

It's from the National Review but its the only thing I could find with a quick google search...apparently it's better for us not to know if they actually create jobs. I don't doubt that Bain can direct more money coming their way, but actual working jobs....

--------------------
A handful of academics – including Harvard’s Josh Lerner and the University of Chicago’s Steve Davis – last year published a working paper titled Private Equity and Employment. It basically defied conventional wisdom on both sides, arguing that private equity investment only has “a modest net impact on employment.”

To arrive at that conclusion, the researchers constructed a dataset that relied on U.S. Census Bureau’s Longitudinal Business Database (which is derived from IRS records). It then used Capital IQ and other financial sources to match up the LBD employment records with thousands of private equity transactions. In other words, while Bain Capital and other PE firms didn’t keep track of their portfolio payroll data, the government did. And some academics connected the dots.

Unfortunately, it seems that access to the LBD is highly conditional. Lerner and Davis were required to use the data only in the aggregate, promising not to report any identifying information about any specific organization – even if that organization was not specifically included in the LBD (i.e., financial sponsors). In fact, Census and the IRS screen all such working papers before they can be released, in order to make sure no identifying data is disclosed.

He is now open for business. Probably his next task will be to admonish us unrepentant left-wing liberals/socialists/communists about the benefits of the free market; atrocities of labor unions and unhelpful whining of the left-wing blogosphere.

they go on rightwing shows and pretend to speak for all progressives and Dems.

They like to play both sides of the fence and give the CONS everything they want and then call it bipartanship..

They also try to pretend that both sides do it(not working together) when most of the Dems who are suppose to be working for our side are really bluedogs/republiCONS.

He just doesn't get it.

And he is just trying to curry favor with the rich for his personal benefit, not the benefit of the 99%.
