Duggars Pitch New Reality Show Counseling Sex Abuse Victims

Not. The. Onion.

http://www.patheos.com/blogs/progressivesecularhumanist/2015/08/duggars-pitch-new-reality-show-counseling-sex-abuse-victims/

According to industry insiders Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar are pitching a new reality show where they would counsel young victims of sexual abuse.

Apparently the Duggars are pitching the idea of a new reality show related to the upcoming special Breaking the Silence, a documentary on child sexual abuse scheduled to air August 30 on TLC.

US magazine reports TLC has been working closely with the Duggar family on the one-hour documentary that will include daughters Jill and Jessa as well as other survivors and families that have been affected by abuse.

According to reports, the Duggars are hoping to launch a spin-off show relating to the upcoming documentary.

or associate with any warm, happy feelings, but then so are the Kardashians. They are both modern-day Waltons (as in "The Waltons" dramatic TV show from the 70's), and 'family' entertainment is always popular with Americans.

Would it be a hit? I hate to say this, but yes, I do think it would be.

I obviously didn't mean that as a joke about Jared's victims.

That family denied there was a problem. The girls went on national television to downplay what their brother did to them, then they went on further to be angry with the media for making their family suffer. The girls had no support from anyone on counseling. There is no regard to what their brother did and how that might have affected the non-family members he violated that are still minors. I mean there is an an endless sea of no here and pure disgust and hatred on my part.

I have a problem with the boy who committed the crime, who was also a victim to his parents fear. I have issues all around and then they want to insult my intelligence by having a show like this. Abhorrent.

“The family can’t afford to not have the show—it is their main source of income, and with a family of that size, without it they’re in enormous trouble,” says a friend, adding the Arkansas couple are willing to beg for forgiveness to get the cash flowing again.

“They know they have to at least pretend to be sorry about what happened, and now they want a spin-off where Jim Bob and Michelle would give advice to abuse victims—even though they’re in denial about their culpability in Josh’s crimes.”

But a publicity stunt may not be enough. “After the Megyn Kelly interview, when they basically made excuses for Josh, they’re done,” says the source. “It was a disastrous move that ruined their brand. It would take a miracle to get them back on TV.”

That one claim is where this all come from. So it's tabloid gossip, and ought to be taken with a pinch of salt.
