The Duggars remain shocked that they lost their reality TV show because the public didnt just forget about their eldest sons mistake of repeatedly molesting his sisters and at least one other girl.
A source who worked closely with the evangelical Christian family told People magazine that the Duggars are having a hard time adjusting to life after TLC canceled their popular reality show, 19 Kids and Counting, after revelations that Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar helped cover up sex abuse by their then-teenage son more than a decade ago.
They are still stunned that this is how it has all gone down, the source said. I think they are still trying to absorb the fact that their life has so radically changed.
Josh Duggar, now 28, resigned from the anti-LGBT Family Research Council in May, shortly after the revelations were made public, and the cable network suspended broadcasts of the long-running program before eventually ending production.
The Duggars are desperate to get back on TV, according to other recent reports, including a possible spin-off where the parents counsel sex abuse victims that would capitalize on a one-hour TLC special, Breaking the Silence, set for Aug. 30.

(14,449 posts)Most who do wrong crawl into a hole holding never to be seen again. This family takes their child's molestation and makes it into a possible TV show. Holy cow. Well the dad did make millions selling real estate so I guess he can sell anything.

(904 posts)as any big deal, if they are so shocked audiences haven't forgiven them. And this begs the question, why on earth would they think they have the credentials to counsel sex abuse victims? I don't think they even qualify as parents since they didn't bother to help their own children when they were abused. If TLC is stupid enough to go along with this idiotic idea they should be fined by the FCC or be closed down, sex abuse counselors spend years going to school and in training, this is not a job for amateurs, nor should it be sensationalized in a reality show.

(56,582 posts)Seriously. You'd start out talking about the importance of breaking the silence. The producer would be interested and lean in a bit as you described how you have a great set of talent here with experience in the issue.
Gradually, the more you sold this as-yet-unnamed talent, the producer's eyes would narrow, his smile would fade, and he'd look straight through you and say, "You're pitching me the Duggars, aren't you?", and call security.

(7,570 posts)If you wrote this in a screenplay and tried to sell it to Judd Apatow or some other director of screwball comedies, they wouldn't buy it as just being too ridiculous.
Maybe TLC can do a reality show with Jerry Sandusky and Jared Fogle as "odd couple" cellmates counseling kids about safety.

Just stunning with how quickly it has come about.
Last year I ranted at 7wo7rees that they were going to rename TLC the Duggar Family Network and that our grandchildren would be facing them in the future. I also said that they would rename Arkansas, Duggerstan.
Together we knew out of 19, the odds were against them and that at least one of the 19 was going to fall out at some point. Never in our wildest imaginations did we ever come up with anything near this!
Confession, enjoying immensely!!!
Sorry, Ms 7wo7rees

(53,661 posts)I wanted to see his wife, to see was going on, if she looked as crazy as him. For all we know, she approved of the affairs?
Instead I found an elegant picture good enough for a movie, of Josh's sister, Jill Duggar, marrying a young man, Derick Dillard:
EXCLUSIVE: Jill Duggar wedding mystery solved: 'We thought it was odd - everyone in Josh's family served in some position in the wedding party but he was left out. Now it makes sense,' guest reveals
Josh Duggar, 27, has admitted to fondling five underage girls under the Duggar roof when he was 14
He was not asked to be a groomsman at his sister Jill's wedding to Derick Dillard
But Josh's wife Anna was a bridesmaid, niece Mackynzie a flower girl and nephew Michael the ring bearer
Jessa did not ask anyone in Josh's immediate family to be in her wedding party when she married Ben Seewald.
Yeah, I know, it's the Mail:

Always one of the first search results with all the pictures/stories 'fit to print' and a few you have to apply brain bleach for.
It appears there are some schisms in the family, but not enough to impoverish any of these characters. I wonder if Derick knows what he's getting into, even though doubtless he knows about the millions the family must have. Nice clothes, there.

(3,275 posts)I just picture a poor girl or boy who has gone through the horrors of sexual abuse being counseled by these terrible people. People who have been abused sexually have gone through so much. People who have been abused need real counseling. They are scared, confused, anger etc. I don't think they deserve to be "counseled" by these people.
What is really sad is that they will probably get a chance to counsel some victims of abuse through their church. I have nothing against religion. I go to a liberal church sometimes.
