So, now the Facebook network is valued at billions of dollars.
How many calories does it produce?*
Can it provide shelter from the elements?
Can it teach a child to read and write?
Can it teach other needful, useful skills, such as farming, carpentry and sewing?
Can it heal the sick or ease their suffering?
Can it dispense justice and protect the weak and the unempowered?
A $100 billion doesn't buy much these days.
*Go hungry for a week and then have someone offer you a free meal or a free iPad. Your choice.

(9,213 posts)and there are plenty of companies out there that DO do what you are suggesting. So wtf does that have to do with Facebook???
Just cause you can't see the value doesn't mean there isn't any.

(24,780 posts)YOU are the product. To understand its value you cannot look at it as a user. You look at it as a business looking to target specific groups. FB is a rich source of lists of people that fit the description of the group you want to target.
