(14,570 posts)Ronald Reagan infected the White House like a plague bacillus. I'm talking about the Fairness Doctrine, which Reagan killed in 1984. This opened the door for the birth of the Faux 'News' empire, and all sorts of bigoted, xenophobic, homophobic, misogynist, war-drum-beating radio and TV 'hosts.'
A whole generation of Americans has been seduced by this great, swollen propaganda zit. Trump and these other people in the Clown Car are merely the pus pockets in this giant pimple. A quick squeeze and they shoot forth into the light with their foul message of fear.
And, dutifully, millions feel that fear. Fear that someone else might have more than they do. Fear that union workers will have decent wages and benefits when 'we' don't, and will take even more from us. Fear of the Muslims, the blacks, the Hispanics, the LGBT people. It's divide and conquer, and its the oldest game in the world. If, the billionaires reason, they can get lots of people to fear and hate one another, then those people will not notice that ALL their pockets are being picked by this diseased quest for more and more profits.

(12,882 posts)Remember when there was a cartoon before the main feature? Remember when cartoons were Saturday morning fare?
With this election cycle, cartoons now open most "news" shows. And mostly, they're Donald Dunce cartoons. Like the ill-tempered, low-IQ'd Disney Water Fowl, Donald says dumb things to go along with his dumb aspirations. Meanwhile, Mickey, Pluto, Goofy, Minnie, Daffy, Sylvester, Elmer and bugs sit fuming that they can't seem to get a line in edgewise.

(57,936 posts)This is Bernie's year.
Republican ideas, Republican acts, Republican candidates, the Republican House and Senate have all failed America.
The Republican Party is a failure. Americans know that.
And now the Republicans are even failing at picking a decent, moral candidate.
Talk about a lack of family values? Trump pretty much personifies that.
The Republican Party is finished, over and done with. That their most favored candidate is the owner of casinos proves it. They don't represent anything that is remotely related to American values of had work, thrift, caring, working together, fair play and honesty.
Goodbye, Republican Party.
