Secretary Clintons use of personal e-mail was consistent with the practice of other Secretaries of State!
That is all anyone needs to know!

(110,254 posts)just as much if she'd used a .gov account instead of her personal account.
.gov accounts are not supposed to contain classified information either.
And there has been no evidence that her business emails were any less safe on her personal server than they would have on .gov, which has been hacked repeatedly over the years. In fact, no one has shown that her server was ever hacked.

(4,325 posts)e-mail to send classified information, then they ALL were breaking the law. (BTW: Top Secret is NOT the highest classification. The highest term is, in itself, classified.)

Do they fear being monitored by someone?

If it took you hours to send an email through the .gov system, and you thought you had a better option, that had been used by your predecessors and other department heads, wouldn't you take it?

(45,851 posts)That's why so many top Democrats know that privatizing government functions is really the way to go, the private sector is far far more efficient and much faster, I get Gmails from Australia in seconds and it doesn't cost me anything.
Did the CIA ever apologize to the Senate for reading their email at .gov?
Meanwhile... Chelsea Manning is in jail for stealing over a quarter of a million communications from the State Department and dumping it at wikileaks. The State Department receives and sends classified info through some system (not .gov) that I don't know the name of. What I do know is that it goes through the DOD servers and that is how Chelsea had access to it.
Do you think the DOD reads all classified info even when they are not supposed to?
Also, do you think the Joint Chief of Staffs hack was on these same DOD servers? OPM?
