Finally...MSM says the right thing about Trump and GOP wanting a police state! Washington Post Editorial.

Mr. Trump’s immigrant-bashing rhetoric breeds violence

By Editorial Board August 21 at 9:04 PM

"DONALD TRUMP’S rapidly expanding catalogue of bombast is already a weighty tome, and it’s a fool’s errand to take each of his utterances seriously. Still, his loathsome comment on Wednesday, in which he excused violence against a Hispanic man in Boston as “passionate” acts of “people who are following me,” taps into a dark vein in American history and merits special attention.

In the Boston incident, two brothers were charged with using a metal pole to assault a 58-year-old Hispanic man. The man, who was homeless, was left with a broken nose and other injuries to his face, arms and chest. “Donald Trump was right, all these illegals need to be deported,” one of the brothers, Scott Leader, told police, the Boston Globe reported.

When Mr. Trump was told of the incident, in which the brothers also are alleged to have urinated on the man before beating him, he said the following: “It would be a shame. . . . I will say that people who are following me are very passionate. They love this country and they want this country to be great again. They are passionate.”

"It's been 24 hours since Trump made his comments defending his passionate supporters who attacked the homeless Hispanic man in Boston after urinating on him.

Perhaps I missed something, but I don't recall the other 16 declared GOP candidates for the presidency stepping forward to condemn Trump's remarks.

The GOP is a morally bankrupt political party. Trump is the perfect incarnation of what the party stands for. As the saying goes, the chickens have come home to roost, and it won't be pretty for the GOP in next year's presidential election."

Trump wants all illegals (and that will translate to anyone who looks illegal) to be rounded up door to door and shipped off.

Cruz, Rand, Bush, and the rest of the Klown Kar want all government to be replaced with something less accountable like corporations and churches.

This is the exact way that Mussolini described fascism, a combination of corporate power and religion. By the time you get there, no redress is possible and the police will be used to enforce the laws of those groups.

Both GOP candidates and elected have called for the power of the state to force an Old Testament code on the entire population. Such statements as one has to be a Christian to an American citizen; stoning for gays; death penalty for women who have had legal abortions and the list goes on.

But in Trumph's case, he'd start with Mexicans and that will require a police state to root out the five million or more in the USA without documentation.

Why do you think people are being encouraged to be armed to the teeth and have kill lists made up? Do you understand what this will mean for the unpopular, which will eventually include anyone that does not enthusiastically support what the GOP wants?

this will be our last time to vote if the GOP gets in. They haven't been subtle about their views on who deserves to vote and have a say over our lives and our national course. Yes, please, vote!

Prescription for the 2016 election: read, and re-read this column, as needed, whenever you might feel disappointment about individual candidates, and especially when you find yourself falling into the meme-trap of "both parties are the same". Re-read, rinse and repeat... but the differences between the parties are so clear and dramatic that it’s hard to see how anyone who has been paying attention could be undecided even now, or be induced to change his or her mind between now and the election...

Just give in to the smearing....because folks are getting tired of hearing about all the lies against her....yes, that is logical! Cave to the lies!

On the contrary, mon ami!

Clinton will grow stronger, not weaker, folks seem to have complete amnesia about who and what this amazing women is and WHY she is the prohibitive favorite - experience, intelligence, and the same unnerving calm of Obama whom she emulates and who national voters, not once, but twice twice elected the Democratic Parth man and will twice elect the Democratic Party woman.

A black President followed by a female President adding up to an unprecedented 16 years controlling the White House. It will be transformational.....the revolutionaries are, as always, dreamers.

A strong white woman makes some folks as nervous as a strong black man, which is a whole other issue for some folks.

I am not one of those folks!

I sincerely hope that nobody on the Post editorial board is mystified about where all this violence is coming from. Or why our national political issues aren't concerned with income inequality, prison reform, the growing police state or the wanton use of violence - by individual and government alike - to solve our problems.

Because that would be just too fucking precious coming from the Post.

This is such a popular theme among Republicans. They are afraid to condemn xenophobic activities, even when they turn criminal, because they're afraid they will offend some of the "patriotic citizens" who believe we can make our country great again by chasing away or even killing people who are not Real Americans. Simmering hatred is a strong political force, and it propels much activity in the Republican base. To repudiate it is risky for the GOP candidates. They're better off just staying silent or perhaps making some wishy-washy condemnation of the violence.

A Flag, a Busing Fight, and a Famous Photograph

On April 5, 1976, the year of the American bicentennial, Stanley Forman, a photographer with the now defunct Boston Herald American, took 1/250th of a second out of his day to take a picture that remains a defining illustration of race in America. At the time, Boston was in turmoil over court-ordered busing, a scheme that forcibly bused students to schools often far from their homes in an effort to diversify schools. Opposition was strong and sparked a protest at City Hall where white demonstrators ended up severely beating a prominent black attorney, Ted Landsmark. Louis Masur teaches a course on visual culture at Trinity College and has written a biography of the photo, The Soiling of Old Glory: The Photograph That Shocked America. He spoke to U.S. News this week. Excerpts:

Why is The Soiling of Old Glory so iconic?

It's an image that's always fascinated me and obsessed me. It's one of those pictures that instantaneously became iconic; even more so because it was taken in Boston in the year of the bicentennial. The idea of a student protester using an American flag as a weapon against an unarmed black man, in that city, in that year, was just something absolutely terrifying and horrifying. People immediately understood it, and it became a symbol of all the worst kinds of racial hatred imaginable and proof that the civil rights movement of the 1960s hadn't achieved all its goals. Why was the location so important?
