Vintage anti-JFK GOP Coloring Book from Early 60s

My mother, rest in peace, recently passed away. She was a life long democrat, her mother, however, was a life long republican. While going through things at my mother’s house in preparation for an estate sale I found an anti JFK coloring book my grandmother had saved along with some other republican memorabilia.

JFK has been so mythologized that for myself, growing up in 80s and 90s, it was surprising to see such harsh attacks leveled against him. Of course this was before his death, but, despite knowing that politics is a brutal sport, I was still taken aback. Most telling though is how similar many of the attacks in this comic book are to the charges being leveled against Obama and democrats now. The more thing change, I guess…

I’ve included some pictures. I have had no luck finding any information on this. If the readers of your site have any information I’d be interested. I don’t think Antique’s Roadshow is coming to Portland anytime soon.

This is funny. And really now, right wing attacks haven't changed in 50+ years.

Interesting images.

It's funny how people seem to think "negative campaigning" is some sort of new idea.

telling Americans Democrats are Harvard educated eggsheads, who waste tax dollars and are weak national secuity issues. The sad thing is the crap keeps working.

starting around 1966 when I first became aware of politics. The newspaper proclaiming Tulsa as "The Oil Capital of the World" was indeed, a very right-wing rag.

It did have a good Sunday comics section, though

all that much. If you go back even farther to the thirties, you'll find that FDR was accused of similar things. Its good to revisit previous administrations to get some perspective about what is going on today.

it is the SAME crape, they just keep going it like a coach running the same running play that works most of the time.

They really only have a few go to moves and just keep cycling between them.

News flash, GOP. Universal Health Care means government FUNDED, not government DICTATED . . . then and NOW.

And after all that fear-mongering, the for-profit health system their asshole party DID help nail in place now has a corporation do everything they said JFK would do in their puny little minds.

Way to go, dickface.
