I had to cry in a couple of places. Desperate times make desperate people and the con and scam artists gouging the government and doing nothing to help made the situation and still makes the situation worse.
Really sad commentary on the people running our state and local governments.

(114,429 posts)from the role that John Goodman played earlier on (and his subsequent loss to the depression that Katrina brought to so many). The music was wonderful and the entire series was well done. Poignant, indeed.
David Simon brought the brutal truth of NOLA post Katrina-- and also its resilience--to the viewer in Treme, just as he had inner city Baltimore in the Wire. I would have expected nothing more.

Alas, his memorial page has been replaced by something in German
, but here's a tidbit:

He is survived by his wife Hana and three pre-school aged children.
He is described by his audience and friends as being an enthusiastic New Orleanian, musician, professor and fiery spirit. Just searching for Ashley's name on Technorati.com shows a reflection of how much influence he had on New Orleans. He was an avid Saints fan and couldn't wait to see his wife bout for the first time with the Big Easy Rollergirls.
Disclaimer: I was one of Ashley's frequent commenters, under the name "Ignatius J. Reilly".
