Huckabee, Cruz...who gives a glying fuck if they "stand with" this woman?
I believe in principles. I believe in religious freedom, I believe in a peson standing behind their convictions.
I also believe that if you work at Arby's you'd better serve me a fucking sandwich, and if you're in the business of issuing marriage licenses, you''d better issue that fucking license. Otherwise, take your bigoted fucking ass...whether it's against cops, gays, or rodeo clowns, I don't care...and go get a job where you can be the person you think you need to be.
Disgusting, but not as disgusting as Huckabee, Cruz, and god knows who's nexct trying to make political hay out of it.

(25,704 posts)I just do. If it came between my principles, which as a nonbeliever now, conflicts with my job, out goes the job.
Resign, you asshole.

(23,263 posts)It's a two-sided coin. I don't want anyone to tell me what my values "should" be, but if I found myself in a job where I couldn't reconcile my values with the task I was being paid to perform, or if I didn't want to serve "certain people," I'd leave, or I'd expectr to have my ass fired.
This woman should not be made a hero for her actions. And sadly, that's exactly what's happening. All of my conservative friends have already made her a poster child.

(7,745 posts)I don't work for employers that would cause me to compromise my values. If it means turning down working at defense contractors (huge poacher of industrial engineers) or working for conservative think tanks (poacher of people with Econ/business degrees). I don't go to work and demand my employer bend to my personal convictions. That's not standing up for what you believe in, it's making someone else do it for you. We need to make that the narrative.

(4,407 posts)Are they going to "stand with" her in jail, or are they just going to waste a bunch of oxygen trying to grab some of the good wishes from the crazy-ass people? By "standing with" her, are they taking any sort of risk? Is this in any way a stance that will harm them?
The answer is pretty clearly "no," so I conclude that they're just leaching off her sacrifice - if you can even call it that.
