A Fight For Jobs At T-Mobile

This was an e-mail alert I received today and thought I needed to share it here. I get a tad hot-under the collar when I read stuff like this. So I'm bringing it here to hopefully see if this community can play a role in saving many jobs. It pisses me off more since I am with this company.

#######

My name is Blake and, until a few weeks ago, I was a Senior Technical Specialist at T-Mobile in Frisco, TX. Now I’m fighting to save jobs and organize workers at T-Mobile.

Last month, T-Mobile announced that thousands of Customer Service Reps, Bilingual Reps and Tech support will lose their jobs at the end of June if the company follows through on its plan to shut down seven U.S. call centers.

Now the company has announced plans to lay off hundreds more. We need to fight back.

Working in customer service at T-Mobile can be tough. Instead of offering support to the front-line workers who are the face of the company, managers pressure us to cut corners. Because T-Mobile has used every trick in the book to prevent us from joining a union, we have no collective bargaining rights and no job security. That makes it hard to stand up for what’s right for our customers.

We used to be proud of our customer service, but for years we’ve seen the company ship more and more jobs to overseas call centers and heard increasing customer complaints about poor service. Even though T-Mobile puts us under unfair pressure, the truth is that we want to help our customers, to be treated fairly and to have our work valued by the company.

We want jobs and we want good jobs.

We have just a few weeks left until June 22nd when the company plans to close the doors for the last time at call centers in Allentown, PA; Fort Lauderdale, FL; Frisco, TX; Brownsville, TX; Lenexa, KS; Thornton, CO; and Redmond, OR.

T-Mobile pretends that they have no choice. But they could keep those centers open and keep thousands of Americans employed by bringing customer service jobs back from overseas call centers.

Over the next weeks, we’ll be back in touch because we have a lot to do to get the message out about these closures and the fight for dignity at work at T-Mobile.

Thank you for standing with T-Mobile workers. Please take a moment to watch this video from Roland Ellis, talking about his experience as a T-Mobile worker organizing for the right to collective bargaining at the company.

If you would like to see the data compiled by researchers on this topic, email me: Blake.Poindexter@gmail.com It's also been all over the news on TV and internet. I was laid off so I unfortunately know all too well the reality of this issue.
