Anonymous Claims Massive Leak of U.S. Department of Justice Data
In a press release, Anonymous hacker claim to have leaked 1.7 GB of data stolen from the United States Bureau of Justice Statistics, a Department of Justice agency that collects and analyzes crime data.
The file has been leaked to The Pirate Bay. The press release and accompanying YouTube video (above) bills the leak "Monday Mail Mayhem" but doesn't offer much clue as to what's in there:
Today we are releaseing 1.7GB of data that used to belong to the United States Bureau of Justice [Statistics], until now.
Within the booty you may find lots of shiny things such as internal emails, and the entire database dump.
We Lulzed as they took the website down after being owned, clearly showing they were scared of what inevitably happened.
Currently the download speed is excruciatingly slow, but we'll let you know if there's anything notable in the database.This wouldn't be the first time Anonymous has hit the DOJ. In February, they leaked an international conference call between the FBI and their overseas counterparts. Though it's hard to see what secrets will be revealed from the Feds' number-crunchers.
