So much for Romney's strength.

After months of aggressive campaigning on jobs and the economy, President Obama and Mitt Romney, his likely Republican challenger, are locked in a dead heat over who could fix the problem foremost on voters minds, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.
The parity on economic issues foreshadows what probably will continue to be a tough and negative campaign. Overall, voters would be split 49 percent for Obama and 46 percent for Romney if the November election were held now. On handling the economy, they are tied at 47 percent.

THAT'S the issue - they need to make it plain as day.

(37,152 posts)Pres. Obama remains the lesser of evils but both parties serve corporations and the mic - not the people.
The sooner we voters stop allowing ourselves to be divided, the sooner we'll put an end to corporate rule.

(72 posts)Whether or not President Obama is a "real" democrat has got nothing to do with it. His numbers aren't stronger, because the economy still kind of sucks, you stupid idiot. This is very bad for Mitt Romney. The President's numbers have improved from the last poll, on who is better to handle the economy. The president is still competitive even in a weak economy, that's also bad for Mitt Romney. During a weak economy, it's Mitt Romney who should be up 15 points, but he isn't.
Sucks to be you.
P.S., I would rather vote for the "lesser of two evils," than some snotty-shit-don't-stink third-party dip-shit whose sole purpose is to split democratic votes, and get republicans elected.

(1,720 posts)Insult fellow Democrats if you like, but Obama will need all of us to win. And given his knack for capitulating to Rs, there are many of us lifelong Democrats who are very disappointed and who are not excited about voting for the lesser of two evils.

(7,413 posts)Obama was doing well in all areas but this econ/jobs thing is very tricky and the election will hinge on that if nothing else blows up in the meantime. Right now they are neck and neck on this issue.
He said the over all enthusiasm level is not good and the group to watch are the "likely voters" not "registered voters" which are the people being polled now.
The "likely's" are the type that vote when they are inspired to do so but don't mind not voting either.
They are the ones that have to have a fire lit under them

One clear challenge for Romney is in generating enthusiasm among his supporters, at least enough to get them to vote in the fall. A slim majority of Obamas backers are very enthusiastic about his candidacy, about double the proportion intensely supportive of Romneys.
