Setting an Example

The vehement reaction to Cory Booker might seem surprising, given that other Democrats have spouted right-wing talking points and undermined the party from the right for years.

But whether it is fair or unfair doesn't really matter. (I think it's fair, BTW.)

At some point one of these self-serving "independent Democrats" (his phrase) has to have the house cave in on him for saying this shit so that these tools will think twice before mixing up their campaign surrogate talking points and their chamber of commerce talking points.

If there's no dramatic downside then what will stop our politicians from currying favor with donors at the expense of the national party?

There has to be a downside.
