I agree with most of what you have written.

Therein lies the rub.
"most are in debt up to their eyeballs as they graduate into a depressed economy (shoot its been bad for most of the Bush years, the last few have been really shitty)"
In all of these years, not one of "our" elected officials have done anything to really help anyone, except the corptocracy and thus themselves. Before and during the "W" years, we watched the end of Glass Steagal, the bailing out of the too big to fail banksters, while they still received obscene bonuses. In the last few decades and still happening, we have lost many of our constitutional rights. The protections that FDR put in place are almost all gone......
At the risk of being ex-communicated, I feel compelled to state the obvious. Even if voting does count (a big IF), how has it benefited us (the 99%)? We keep hemorrhaging our "rights", our expectations of "the American dream" (Carlin: "you have to be asleep to believe it&quot . I am not an Anarchist. Even though I identify with Socialism it is not important yet. It becomes relevant when we start to rebuild.

The system is broken. (yes, I am sure that mittens would just speed the process up)
The only way to quit being serfs, while the 1% live it up, is to quit. Drop out of the system. Hell, it doesn't do us any good. It has the opposite effect, the "system" is used against us.
FDR got the economic beginnings correct. He let the "too big to fail,"..fail. Then he started rebuilding on solid ground. Unfortunately he still had to deal with what was left of the corptocracy and he couldn't get his vision realized; at least he tried. The elite who still wielded power, put the brakes on and then their progeny began the process of undoing his accomplishments, along with our constitution.
Here we are. I say we have to start over.
