I am actually very tired tonight. I spent the ENTIRE day in downtown LA, doing jury duty........and I get to repeat it tomorrow!

My fatigue really interferes with whatever small ability I might have to do these!

I *might* try doing it when I'm less fatigued.

What can you tell us about jury duty? Have you been selected, or just waiting and waiting? Considered and rejected for a few cases?

FYI, I actually sat on a jury a few years ago, and was one of most interesting 'jobs' I've ever had. (I fully expected to be tossed off, as I'm an attorney, but they kept me!)

and I had an alcoholic brother. I thought the experience was very interesting, actually, and I enjoyed the learning process. I thought it would be pretty awful but the whole procedure made sense to me.

[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]Flubbed the first few and only got 88%.

By the 2nd go-round, I had the hang of blanking out the letters and not reading the word, but ONLY looking at the color of the word.

[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]The trick seems to be in consciously redirecting the brain to do what is not automatic (i.e., read the words in front of us).

Good job!

I obviously read the instructions without internalizing them... not thinking through what I would be doing.

The second time I only looked at the top left corner of the first letter of each word and said (silently) "what color is this?"

May 2012

Four times I scored zero. Kept repeating the same thing, clicking on the matching word to the color.

So after four spectacular failures I simply did the opposite and scored 100% but I don't have a clue what is all about. Just learned 'don't repeat the same thing over and over and expect different results'.

But there is no logic to how I got 100% other than doing the opposite of what got 0%

I didn't understand the instructions the first time and then the next times I just had to keep slowing down. I thought 4 seconds isn't very much time, so I hurried, but it actually is.
