(31,706 posts)Joey knows this is not a good thing...while people may not find capitalism offensive, they sure do find greed to be. This is espcially the case today with the large disparity in income. Even the teabaggers find him offensive for this reason. Surely the focus groups are showing that not only do people understand what vulture capitalism is, they don't like it and are seeing Mittens as its poster boy.
The spinners were first out there trying to claim that Bain was "off limits"...now they're trying to muddy what exactly Bain did and what Mitten's involvement really was. It's their "tar baby" and one that Mittens has been stuck in before. The Obama team has succeded in framing the economy on Willard's history and qualifications...a major step that rushpublicans like Joey know is not a good thing.
While people here are railing against Booker, Rendell, Ford and others...the fact is the name Bain has been front and center all week. Since what they do is so complicated it will take Team Obama a while to break it down...and they've gotten off to a good start. A couple weeks ago few people knew what the word "Vulture Capitalism" meant...by August everyone will know!

(5,953 posts)Just show this clip of RICK PERRY explaining it over and over again on behalf of Newt Gingrich. If Governor "I can't memorize the names of more than two gubmint agencies" Perry can understand the difference, I'm sure even the lowest information voters can.

(31,706 posts)It's very nice to have these clips handy and surely Team Obama had months to figure out how they'd use them. I really think Willard's step into a big trap here...he can't "etch-a-sketch" this one away.
The more you explain what Vulture Captialism is the more people don't like it. Hopefully the Obama team will continue to roll out commercials showing one Bain venture after another that Mittens canibalized...the more local the better.

(59,498 posts)for becoming President. Given that anyone's career - public or private - IS what is examined, they have to look at Bain. At this point neither Romney's view of an organization that was a power house in creating jobs or the ads of people who lost their jobs when Bain took over are the complete picture. Obama has transitioned to the more complicated (at first) statement that Romney's GOALS at Bain were not his (Obama's) goals as President. Romney's job was making money for the shareholders, which he did. Sometimes that meant he created jobs - other times that he destroyed them. I really doubt that arguing that this is the type of creative destruction that makes for a more vibrant economy is good to run on - especially in a time of many people losing jobs.

(268,724 posts)lies that he created jobs. Poor Joe Scum wants the Obama campaign to drop this topic.

Funny how he's forced them to be on the defensive isn't it? Americans are talking about what Obama wants them to talk about. The Republicans like Joe Scum are doing his campaign work for him.

(15,953 posts)Obama needs to stay focused on the Bain record and not get drawn into a debate about tactics. That's how they change the subject. And when they cry about fairness, he needs to answer by pointing out how unfair it was for Mitt to walk away with millions from the profitable companies and pension funds he raided.
