Blue cop support lines on curbs could cause construction concerns

From Cedar Rapids.

CEDAR RAPIDS — A viral trend across the country is showing support for local police. But it may also be getting in the way of utility work.

It started with a social media post made earlier this month. A San Antonio man, Anthony Welichko, Facebooked a picture of a blue line painted on the curb in front of his house. He put it there as part of a campaign called the “Safe Harbor Initiative”. Welichko urges others to do the same.

“To all law enforcement who see this line, know that the residents of this home appreciate your service and dedication to keeping the peace,” Welichko said in the post.

We found a bunch of those blue lines in Cedar Rapids. Trouble is, they’re not for police, but construction crews who use them to mark utilities buried under ground.

I'm waiting for someone to...

A) Get a face full of water.
B) Hit an active gas line.
C) Get a face full of raw sewage.
D) Get electrocuted.

All because some dumbass painted one of these lines on a curb.

Why can't he just answer the phone when the FOP auxiliary calls, make a donation and get the damn sticker for his front door?

He seems to think the curb belongs to him alone. It belongs to all the other
taxpayers and they have a right to see to it that vandalism laws are enforced.

There is almost no chance his house will be raided "by mistake" by the cops he so reveres. He will likely never die in a traffic stop.
