George Zimmerman blasts Sanford Police

After going on a 12-hour ride along with a Sanford Police officer, George Zimmerman was not impressed.

In fact, he said they were lazy, according to recordings released from a Jan. 2011 city forum where Zimmerman publicly lambasted his local police department, according to documents provided to the Orlando Sentinel Wednesday.

"What I saw was disgusting," Zimmerman said to mayor-elect Jeff Triplett following a scandal that ousted then-police chief Brian Tooley. "The officer showed me his favorite hiding spots for taking naps."

The recordings are in line with depictions of Zimmerman by friends and family as a man preoccupied with the rule of law and deeply concerned about the safety of his community.

I say this knowing that they have had a less than stellar record of reporting the death of Trayvon Martin.

I would give links, but I suspect many here at DU know what I am talking about... I know that there are linksout there on this sight alone.

This is not a knock on the OP, but rather my saying that I do not trust this publication. They posted a number of articles that defended Zimmerman, and now they are posting articles that claims the Sanford PD treated Zimmerman badly.

That's just bad design. They do that to doctors, nurses and interns too. It seems so backward -- people who do surgery, critical care and police -- working the longest shifts possible. Lack of sleep is like being drunk, it is impairment.
