This, just after the 2014 election where Oregon was able to seize more control of their State Senate with help from funding from Bloomberg who was funding pols like Chuck Riley who took one of two seats in the State Senate to give Democrats control there. Bloomberg was funding Democrats to help establish some gun control laws here. Maybe with that failure and this event, we can get more legislation passed to get some sensible gun control here. So that they didn't get their petitions to succeed before this horrible event is a good sign that the state perhaps is in a mood to fix these problems, even before this horrible event happened!

PORTLAND Its long been conventional wisdom that fighting for gun control is a good way to end a politicians career.
But advocates of tighter gun laws are pointing to a pair of victories in the Pacific Northwest as evidence that the tide may be shifting.
Last year in Washington, voters overwhelmingly supported mandatory background checks on private gun sales. Lawmakers in Oregon approved similar legislation this year, and last week it became clear that there wouldnt be political consequences. Gun rights supporters were unable to gather enough signatures to force recall elections for the bills supporters, including state Sen. Floyd Prozanski, a Eugene Democrat.
We are seeing it again and again, that this is actually a winning issue and you can vote to protect the American public and make the American public safe, and your political career will flourish, said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety, an advocacy group backed by millions from billionaire Michael Bloomberg, the former New York mayor.
