CNN turns up a cache that raise questions about Gingrich's claim's regarding his divorce

The Gingrich divorce papers

By ALEXANDER BURNS | 12/26/11 12:15 PM EST
CNN turns up a cache that raise questions about Gingrich's claim that his first wife requested their divorce:

....................................

Jackie Battley Gingrich, the congressman's wife and the mother of Jackie Gingrich Cushman, responded by asking the judge to reject her husband's filing.

"Defendant shows that she has adequate and ample grounds for divorce, but that she does not desire one at this time," her petition said.

"Although defendant does not admit that this marriage is irretrievably broken, defendant has been hopeful that an arrangement for temporary support of defendant and the two minor daughters of the parties could be mutually agreed upon without the intervention of this court," her petition said. "All efforts to date have been unsuccessful."

When CNN presented the information found in the divorce file to the Gingrich campaign, its spokesman stood by the contention that it was Gingrich's ex-wife who asked for the divorce in 1980.

Is he so stupid that he thinks we won't find out?

He is not qualified to run the country.

If he was cheating maybe she didn't want him to be able to get remarried after all. Perfectly plausible.

On edit: yes she probably uttered the words "I want a divorce" before he did especially since he was cheating on her.

Compare Newt’s three marriages to the Obama’s happy marriage. As Dougherty notes, “Newt Gingrich cheated on his first wife with the woman who would become his second, and then cheated on her with the woman who became his third wife. He was leading the impeachment of Clinton, while diddling his Congressional aide. And now he makes little documentaries about God. In these films he wears tailored suits, not sackcloth and ashes.”

6. Twelve years without paying alimony as ordered by the court

The divorce decree was entered in 1981 ordering alimony of $1,000 a month. His ex-wife went back to court in 1993 seeking a contempt order for failure to pay. Newt made up the difference before the judge issued his ruling. I wonder how much back alimony it came to.

I distinctly remember discussing him here back in 2001 (and other times too), and we seemed to find out all the "juicy bits" about his first marriage..

Our media shows up "late to the party" every time, and then pretends to have "discovered" new info
