This is the first photo we took of Dug right after we rescued him in June of 2010. The previous family moved out. They left him behind with no food, water, or hope. He has come a long way since. He was lucky the landlord was checking the property.
Dug will be in this for the next week. Please consider voting for our Dug.
And please help keep this kicked.

(62,444 posts)I see an account is necessary to enter the contest.
Is there any benefit you derive from winning?
Or is this just their way of driving traffic to the site?
Omaha Steve

(62,444 posts)My vote cannot be bought.
Deep in my heart, I had to go with Stewie.
But if Dug wins, I will vote for him in the general election.
Typical DU that everyone is voting for the white one with frizzy hair.

(1,937 posts)I had to take our rescued Jack Russell to the vet today, lethargic with labored breathing. She is 12 and we have had her for over 8 years. She is mommy's girl, so much so that my wife could not bear to go with. We have her back after a day of observation with some meds and await results of her lab work.
I'm in a similar situation as you Steve, hope this finds you well.

(15,435 posts)be THE winner. I have two chocolate labs and saw a little puppy called "willie" a lab, looks like my Dakota when he was young. THAT pic caught my eye. But your DUG, is so adorable and I would have voted for him even if he wasn't yours. Seen this site before and was always going to send a pic in, but I never did. Just not very techny, now my older dog Shawnee (12) will need to be put pm an "old lady" calendar. But for a 12 yr. old lab she's doing well, but know her time is limited.
OK, voted for DUG!

(54,436 posts)Not only is my wife allergic to dogs, but we're gone so much that having a dog in the household would be cruelty, as we would be unable to care for him/her as much as a house pet would deserve. I envy you that you can do this. He certainly looks like he's happy where he is!
