Conservatives will not work with us because they hate us.

While following current news about the Denali wolves, I ran across this in the reader comments section of a LA Times article:

chanteuse at 2:24 AM May 23, 2012

When I was growing up in rural America in the 50's and 60's Conservatives were the ones protecting wild animals like the wolf. In those days, we as Conservatives believed that we were the stewards of these animals and we protected them and nurtured them. We backed legistlation that set aside lands to protect wild animals, we passed laws forbidding the hunting or killing of animals that were struggling.

Now, because Liberals have taken this cause as their own, so-called Neo-Conservatives take the other tack: They go to extremes to take as many animals in the most cruel way possible. The reason? Because they hate Liberals.

My message to my fellow Conservatives: Let go of your hate and do the right thing. The Word of God is clear on this subject: Care, nurture, and guide the natural world so that it produces and does not bring destruction on itself. Killing female wolves in the Spring is simply wrong and not because it's a "liberal" thing. It's wrong because it don't make no sense.

This truth has universal ramifications. It reminds us of who we were before Reagan ushered in today's toxic culture of hate, which has been intensified by his successors.

Honestly, I think alot of us progressives posting here today probably would have been members of the GOP 60+ years ago.

Not only has the GOP party been totally hijacked by the religious nutjob you have to add in several virulently hateful Dixie Democrats who left the Democratic Party for the GOP after the Civil Rights movement passed. Think about it - at one time Jesse Helms and Strom Thurmond called themselves Democrats but when they switched to the GOP they took along their homophobic, racist hatred and instilled those values into the GOP. Add in the religious craziness and you have a GOP party that would not be recognized by the likes of Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt or Dwight Eisenhower.

Plus, they're either monsters or have been brainwashed by sociopathic monsters.

Wildlife conservation has nothing to do with politics and everything to do with human common sense. Or, have far-right radicals really sold their souls to the Devil?
