(23,374 posts)REASON FOR ALERT
This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.
ALERTER'S COMMENTS
You know, if someone claimed the size of a woman's genitals was directly proportional to a political position they held, the post would be rightly hidden. Please let onehandle (and the rest of DU) know that there is no double standard.
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Sat Oct 10, 2015, 09:28 PM, and the Jury voted 0-7 to LEAVE IT.
Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: I can certainly see the correlation between a penis and guns.
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: I'm going to leave this because small and inadequate doesn't necessarily mean genital size. Someone can feel small and inadequate against athletic men, or well accomplished men, or men with large homes, etc. I understand that normally genital size is the comparison, however it's too vague here. That being said, if it were that type of comparison I would vote to hide, as the alerter is right, DU would burn if a woman's genitals were ever called into question with respect to any of their beliefs.
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: I don't see where the cartoon says anything about genitals. I interpret this differently. I think the alerter needs to grow a thicker skin.
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Stop feeling oppressed, you are not.
Juror #7 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Not a personal attack, so I vote to leave it. It's kink of dumb and broad-brushed, but not all that offensive.
Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

Genitals? Where does it say genitals? Where is your mind, alerter?

(145,666 posts)Both the initial cartoon and the potential copycat get their point across, but Linus was gentle, nonviolent, eloquent, and erudite, and I can't imagine his character ever buying into the gun culture. It seems kind of a shame to put him in this role just because he's our strongest cultural association with security blankets.

(2,404 posts)...I know Sparky (Charles Schultz) would be angry about this cartoon. Not because he disagrees with it necessarily. But because he wanted his strip and its characters to die when he did. So, I'm sure he wouldn't appreciate the copying of one of his favorite characters.
