(17,101 posts)There's also a Pirate Party, a Rhino Party, a Communist Party, a Marxist-Leninist Party, an Animal Alliance Party (which is new to me, most likely only in a few ridings in BC)...likely even more in different ridings/different parts of the country.

(2,762 posts)I'm assuming the L's are liberals, and the C's are Harper's conservative party? What are the other's?

(1,545 posts)That's always strong for them, but they need every seat if they have any hopes for a majority

(17,101 posts)They'll be a few Greens in there, I'm sure, in BC. Elizabeth May will win her seat, perhaps Jo Ann Roberts in Victoria.
Curious as to how Wyatt Scott will do. lol

(1,545 posts)The results so far are from Lib strongholds.
But, the NDP really tanked in the polls in the last few days.
craigmatic
(4,510 posts)system correcting itself. It would've been cool to see them win outright given that they're currently the main opposition.

(1,545 posts)hard to believe he wouldn't have been able to get more benefit out of the momentum they picked up after the provincial election in Alberta.

(111,358 posts)the hell out of their government. I sympathise. I really do. Quite honestly, if I weren't stuck down here in Fundyland, I'd be tempted to join them.

(10,807 posts)The Libs are leading with 61.5% of the vote.
That's a hefty lead.

(4,510 posts)Tories can't take them all in a climate like this. How many liberal seats won out west would be considered a blow to the conservatives?
72DejaVu
(1,545 posts)I don't see how anyone can say what will happen out there.
I have good friends in Edmonton who are still on cloud nine over NDP's victory, but are supporting the Liberals now.

(10,807 posts)- Liberals elected in 28 ridings and leading in 5. They have 61.0% of the popular vote counted so far.
- NDP leading in 0 ridings.
- Conservatives leading in 0 ridings.
- Greens leading or elected in 0 ridings.
From CBC News
And it's my understanding that they only won 35 seats total in the prior election. Wow.
72DejaVu
(1,545 posts)But now, with about half the precincts in, the Liberal, Harvey, has opened up a lead of about 1,300 votes.
Looking like a clean sweep.

(17,101 posts)When Harper wakes up tomorrow, Nenshi will be his mayor, Notley will be his Premier, and Trudeau will be his Prime Minister.
(clarification for Americans who don't recognize these names...Naheed Nenshi is the extremely progressive Muslim mayor of Calgary; Rachel Notley is the NDP Premier of Alberta; and of course, tonight's winner, Justin Trudeau).
