(61,033 posts)"Left Underground"?.
Not a bad ring to it but I kinda like "Democratic Underground" even though we do get troll invasions and have many not-so-Democratic posters.
Keep doing your job MIRT.

(23,720 posts)Most newbies don't know what MIRT is. In fact, I would venture to say that there a quite a few paying members that have no idea what MIRT is. You sure you haven't been re-incarnated and living a second life here now?

(39,464 posts)There are quite a few centrists here (some seem to tip over to the right quite a bit, depending on the issue). Also, I have not seen any evidence of the far left on this board.
I don't know why anyone here would not want "to keep the discussion forum clear of conservative trolls, spammers, and other undesireables."
I'm sure you will become acquainted with MIRT soon enough, though.

(460 posts)So DU basically has no standards for what a democrat is.
Just go with it, it's the owners of this sites play land and they can do what they what any time they want.

(25,578 posts)The rules here are made by the owners of the site. They are open to suggestions of its users, but they don't put things up for a vote. Democratic Underground is run exactly as I would expect it to be run.
I think you are misunderstanding the meaning of the word "Democratic" in Democratic Underground.

(26,117 posts)Like many (if not most) websites, there's an "About" link at the bottom of the page. While you're down there, be sure to read the "Terms of Service" - much more informative than Wikipedia.

(26,117 posts)Ridiculous. MIRT bans newbie trolls - that's it. Why would anyone consider an appeal from a fucking troll?

(5,764 posts)I simply would not be able to read it. I would have to go elsewhere for my news, information and opinion. I like reading other peoples' opinions, but not when it's laced with invective and irrationality. Finding the nuggets of truth and enlightenment is hard enough among a group of partisans and political hot-heads, without adding that element.
