Jeb Bush will attend a finance meeting this weekend in Houston convened by former President George H. W. Bush and attended by Bushs brother, former President George W. Bush, CBS News has learned.
The session, designed to assess where Bushs candidacy stands in the face of large-scale staff cutbacks and underwhelming poll numbers, will also be attended by Bushs mother, Barbara Bush. The governors campaign confirmed the meeting will be held Sunday and Monday.

If George Sr. and Babs are smart they yank the plug on politics period and just enjoy their billions. It would be the civilized thing to do.

(7,400 posts)But the dude has literally no political skill. Seriously. Uncharismatic, slow on his feet, spoiled rotten and shows it. Smirks, snaps, rattles easily, lies poorly.
One expects more from one's supervillians, especially coming from the BCF.

Trump is a hideous beast, but I find it highly amusing that he was the one to rid the Bush family of whatever credibility that they had left on the national stage with his incessant bullying of Jeb.

(1,428 posts)I mean c'mon! He "appeared" to have masterminded the vote steal in Florida. He didn't run around dressed up like a cowboy pimp. He didn't grope world leaders in public. It was an easy meme to buy. He seemed to be a business oriented adult to W's dry drunk frat boy behavior.
It's obvious now to everybody the Bush family has suffered a dramatic decline in mental acuity and self awareness after the H.W.'s generation. The whole lot of them are idiots. They are spoiled, privileged, lazy, ignorant, and unethical. The Palins with generational wealth.

(9,688 posts)They'll say "Jeb, Carson is an awesome force in the Republican party today, and what have you got that Carson hasn't got?"
Jeb'll be flustered and say "but I'm just old likable me!".
Then they'll turn on the home movie of George W. Bush striding across the flight deck of the aircraft carrier, crotch bulging with the kind of magic that had Chris Matthews gushing "we're all neocons, now!", and ask Jeb how his crotch can compare.
I'm not sure whether Jeb'll feel at home with his crotch, at that time.
But that's politics in the USA, and at that it's just half of the Bush and Clinton family series of operettas.
It's ongoing. It's all the rage.

(49 posts)that question about his brother's responsibility for 9/11 vs Ms. Clinton's responsibility for Bengazi then he has both a) no historical self-reflection and b) some terribly incompetent support staff.
"You should give it to me 'cause I want it, plus I got all the monies" is not a great platform for a family with such a long history of bankrupting America to benefit their numerous corporate interests.

(2,510 posts)I find that very disturbing.
Just because the extreme right tried to create a number of scandals about the Clintons, has absolutely no bearing on whether or not the Bushes are guilty of a number of crimes....
The fact that a DU poster wearing the Hillary icon is so anxious to defend the Bushes is, well, interesting...

(23,965 posts)except for Rubio, that would be prohibitively difficult for the Bushes to pull off; sliding Cheney through was a bit of a trick
i think he's shallow and mercenary enough to sign on with anyone who bothers to carry his sycophantic ass through the GE, if he can get his family to back him
and i wouldn't put it past his bunch to apply "special pressure" to the other campaigns to consider his offer, either

(5,522 posts)distanced themselves from the way W was perceived. First of all, let's start with the campaign logo. "Jeb!" reads like something a dumbass frat boy would write in-between being force-fed Bud Lite by his frat brothers from a beer bong. The guy also defended the failed policies of his brother, and carried himself like a dweeb at the debates. Trump does too, but he gets away with it for some reason.
There's a problem of competency in the Republican candidates. Honestly, Ben Carson looks the most Presidential of the bunch. He also has the personality of a dishrag.
I bet this "meeting" will be about Jeb scuttling his disastrous campaign. The Bush family doesn't want to waste anymore money on this absolute turkey of a campaign. I bet we'll see him dropping out very soon.
