"Choices don't get clearer than this," read the email sent Wednesday evening by the DNC chair, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.). "Winning in Wisconsin sends a powerful message to the far-right extremists, and it starts to roll back their worst offenses. To build our organization and make it happen, Democrats need to come together to turn out hundreds of thousands of voters -- and we all have a part to play."
What's notable about this fundraising appeal is that the money will go directly to Wisconsin Democrats, rather than to the DNC. Other national organizations -- including the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee -- have sent out solicitations related to the recall, but the money has not directly gone to Wisconsin entities.

President Barack Obama's campaign has also jumped in, organizing phone banks and canvassing operations to get out the vote for the June 5 election.

So much for the DNC not helping.

(44,228 posts)"highly respected" DUers told us that the DNC was doing nothing for Wisconsin.
Sorry, I just can't believe your factual report, I've already been told the truthiness of the situation.

(140 posts)It's almost as though some will not believe it unless Obama shows up at the steps of the WI State Capitol with one of those hilariously oversized checks for eleventy billion dollars, and hands it directly to Barrett.

(13,200 posts)if it got rid of Walker. Better yet if he sent a Predator to take out the Kock brothers who are terrorists equal to any that have been killed overseas.

(10,745 posts)But it does appear the DNC is doing alright, though. Hopefully it won't be too late.
A loss in Wisconsin probably wouldn't severely harm Obama's chances, given that a growing number of people are very aware of the shenanigans of the Koch Bros. and certain other entities, but it would be an unfortunate setback and I'd think we'd all like to avoid that.

(3,450 posts)This should have been do long ago - in fact right when it was confirmed that the recall would happen. Yes it is better late than never, but I still am not satisfied that the national party has handled this right!

(5,420 posts)to launch a massive campaign that's likely to put quite a bit in their coffers. Too bad they won't have time to do any good and will have to use all that money as they see fit.
surely there are no dems that want Walker to suceed in his union breaking campaign. I don't know if I should add the sarcasm icon or not.

(140 posts)If they had been active since the recall petitions were turned in or even sooner, the money may have made a difference and most would argue well spent. This late in the race, especially this race where there are very few remaining undecideds, I don't know if it's a wise use of resources. Not many minds to change with massive ad buys and whatnot. Keep the GOTV efforts well manned and funded because this late in it's all about getting every vote turned out. And, to their credit, that is what they are helping out with and focusing on. I, for one, thank them.

asks a nearby fire department to please send one of their trucks
that is parked in one of their fire stations, it is not a sufficient answer
to say: "Why? We sent you one several months ago."

(16,232 posts)I received a call during lunch from WI Democratic Party requesting a donation. I told them I'd have to do it online when I got home.
You've saved me the trouble of looking! I appreciate it. I made my donation and posted to FB.
We absolutely have to get Walker out of office! I don't think this State can survive until the next regular election. He's gutted so much. Taken away so many rights. Destroyed so many lives.
Please - even those of you who don't live in WI, just $5.00 - anything will help.
I think this recall election will help set the tone for the rest of the country and other elections. If we let the Koch Brothers and ALEC win this one, it will embolden the teapartiers and far right wingnuts.

(1,034 posts)I would create one of those outside special interest non profits to place "information" ads that state what an ash-whole the current governor of Wisconsin is. And his henchmen as well. But alas 25.00 dollars of my earned income to this candidate will have to do.
Let's hope many of us regular folk contribute.
