Memorial Day Rant: Courtesy Of The Red, White, And Blue

If you live near DC Memorial day is about unmuffled motorcycles, claims that the Rambo movies are documentaries and ubiquitous karaoke perfomances of Courtesy Of The Red, White, And Blue.

I honestly don't know what is most offensive about this song...

The wing-nuttery and reliance on a distorted view of reality are not even the biggest problem.

It's that the song is exploits the listener. The song is obviously written for children, even including cartoon imagery. It is not somebody expressing something, it is someone clever expressing what he thinks the most retrograde, self-pitying, bigoted moron would like.

It is written in the language of children and bullies... the language of comic books and professional wrestling.

The self-pitying whining of modern country music is bad enough when applied to the poor oppressed white man who believes in Jesus and drinking home-made liquor no matter what some presumptively gay city-folk have to say about it.

But that mewling passive-aggressive self-pitying narcissistic hokum applied to the USA, the biggest, richest most powerful and impregnable nation in the history of the world as being some sort of scrappy under-dog in a war against people who live in tents... wow.

And the idea that these pathetic whiners think their Jesus and moonshine and racism are responsible for our weaponry that can blow up people from the stratosphere while these lames sit on a bar stool feeling sorry for themselves...

No, those weapons were designed by rocket scientists. You know, that thing you brag about not being immediately before regurgitating another hateful fact-free tirade you picked up from Fox fucking news...

Oh... and anyone who points out that Toby Keith is a Democrat, who cares? So was John Wayne Gacy. A millennium of good works couldn't make up for being the Leni Riefenstahl of America.

Anyway, I guess we are lucky. Congress was probably not far from making this the national anthem in 2003.

(The Angry American)

American girls and American guys, will always stand up and salute.
We'll always recognize, when we see ol' glory flying,
There's a lot of men dead,
So we can sleep in peace at night when we lay down our heads.
My daddy served in the army where he lost his right eye,
But he flew a flag out in our yard 'til the day that he died.
He wanted my mother, my brother, my sister and me.
To grow up and live happy in the land of the free.

Now this nation that I love is fallin' under attack.
A mighty sucker-punch came flying in from somewhere in the back.
Soon as we could see clearly through our big black eye,
Man, we lit up your world like the fourth of July.

Hey, Uncle Sam put your name at the top of his list,
And the Statue of Liberty started shaking her fist.
And the eagle will fly and it's gonna be hell,
When you hear Mother Freedom start ringing her bell.
And it'll feel like the whole wide world is raining down on you.
Ah, brought to you, courtesy of the red, white and blue.

Oh, justice will be served and the battle will rage:
This big dog will fight when you rattle his cage.
An' you'll be sorry that you messed with the U.S. of A.
'Cos we'll put a boot in your ass, it's the American way.

2. The confederacy is a culture of defeat

They whine like Germans probably whined after losing WWI.

It is the pathological culture that always arises when the defeated try to turn having lost into a macho or aesthetic virtue.

The sentimentality of fascism is the sentimentality of the glorious defeated. "We were too good, too idealistic to win."

And then that mind-set metastasizes, attracting other like minded personality-defective losers, even from the land of the victor.

4. Though not a fan, I must say that not all country music is like this.

It seems though since, 2005, this nativist/defeated attitude has become more prevalent. After Obama took office, it seems that every male country "artist" has their number hit based upon a defense of their "backward" way of life and anger at the outside world.

5. Good country is like good anything. Good.

But it is pretty funny that these folks are so eager to find slights that it seems not to occur to them that the city folk really don't think about them one way or another.

There are not many hipster indy/alternative songs about how everyone in the south can't figure out how to work their iphone.

I quite like the song "Redneck Woman," as a clever and catchy song. But Jesus... why is everything these people talk about a competition with those people who think they're so fine just because they don't have grape jelly on their shirt?

Victoria's Secret, well their stuffs real nice
Oh, but I can buy the same damn thing on a Wal-Mart shelf half price
Still look sexy, just as sexy as those models on TV
No, I don't need no designer tag to make my man want me

Yeah, not like those frigid career women whose metro-sexual husbands don't want no part of their bony ass.

Pathetic.

I am sure Fiona Apple will be writing a song bragging about how she doesn't need an American flag bikini, big hair and a beer-gut to get some drunkard to impregnate her... not.

This stuff is part-and-parcel of the war on Christmas... the war on white people... the war on bad-gas-mileage... the fact that Obama took away their guns that they are fondling while claiming Obama took them away.

The majority's delusions of victimization.

It's a Captain Queeg culture.

7. Consider the treatment of the Dixie Chicks vs. Hank Jr.
Sun May 27, 2012, 09:42 PM
May 2012

Both were "disrespectful" of the President while troops were fighting in the field. The Dixie Chicks were condemned and shunned from the country music community. They were threatened with violence. Hank Jr. received a standing ovation. That is telling as to what these people are.

My family had a similar experience living in a small, conservative, white town where we were the outsiders. I feel no love whatsoever for country.
I do not want to go into it at this time.
