(3,580 posts)I'm serious, he's making no sense and that's his appeal to most of his supporters.

(36,437 posts)That's clearly been nixed. His supporters will fade away as soon as he does, which will happen before Thanksgiving.

(20,317 posts)Is this just what a manipulator does when they're called on a lie? Is he suffering from kind some kind of delusional paranoia?
Whatever it is, the man is mentally off kilter.
This man has to be kept as far away from Washington DC as possible. He is unfit for office. Hell, he's unfit to stick those hands inside anyone's head! Crazy, crazy man!

That makes some ill will. You will have Obama and others who are friendly to them - probably a good idea to have a good vibe with them.

(5,364 posts)While I've seen quotes of his and heard the take-ways from both here on DU and from my raging RW relatives and their friends, it's actually the first time I've actually heard and watched him speak. I was actually disappointed, to tell the truth, but then again I was expecting Trump-like bombast.
Definitely not presidential material: too snarky and defensive in a way that suggests further furtiveness. The religion angle is damning on its own. As to the snarkiness, see below.
His RW fans ( as other have said, and as I've come to find out ) will view what we see as a meltdown as a righteous "circling of the wagons" and redouble their support for him. They think it's "spunk" in a way to spit water in the face of the world changing around them. It's like they see him as a last stand of the reactionary angry curmudgeon brigade. They regard him ( and/or ) Trump as some sort of last hope. They hate the younger generation. Just what constitutes it is squishy, but they like it that way, so they can modify or pile-on later. They're fucked, but whistle past the graveyard with bravado.
