USA USA UPDATE
Is Starbucks brewing a 'War On Christmas'?
This week, Stabucks unveiled new cups for the holiday season, which are solid red with the green Starbucks logo in the middle, with no candy canes, reindeer, or snowmen.
Starbucks invited controversy this week with new cups that are solid red with the green Starbucks logo in the middle.
While the cups' design may not seem objectionable on its face, the absence of snowmen, reindeer, candy canes and other iconography has prompted some to accuse the coffee company of waging a War On Christmas'.
Breitbart London reports that MP David Burrowes, a conservative Christian of the British Parliament, has criticized Starbucks, saying The Starbucks coffee cup change smells more of political correctness than a consumer-led change. Burrowes added, The public has a common sense grasp on the reality that at Christmas time, whether you have a Christian faith or not, Britain celebrates Christmas.

(25,406 posts)But I don't really care that much. If Starbucks sees sales falling because their customers think the new cup is too boring I'm sure they will switch to a more decorated cup very quickly.

(14,177 posts)Sure the design is plain. But, I like it as a practical thing. They can use the cups until Valentines day. Good, they won't have to throw them away or store them for a long time (it's a pain to people who work to have to work around a bunch of stuff that is in the storage room). So, it's good. I don't go to Star Bucks anyway. I can get cheaper plain coffee anywhere else and I can't afford fancy coffee it has too much sugar in it.

(14,691 posts)care less about the cups. People pay for what's in the cup which can be thought of simply as a coffee delivery device. The hand goes around the cup and grips it and as such no one can see what's on the damn thing and NO ONE IS LOOKING at it while they're drinking their $5.00 coffee.

(44,397 posts)A group of Christians turned to social media to share their frustration with Starbucks' new holiday cups, because the cups don't have "Merry Christmas" as part of the design. But there isn't much to the design in general.
The coffee corporation has chosen to take a more minimal approach to their design this year and have made the cups a simple red with their green and white logo. That's all.
"Starbucks REMOVED CHRISTMAS from their cups because they hate Jesus," said Joshua Feuerstein in a viral Facebook post that has gotten over 10.7 million views and over 403 thousand shares since Thursday.

(14,691 posts)The public has a common sense grasp on the reality that at Christmas time..." The public has a better grasp on reality 365 days out of the year than these right-wing freaks do. While they carry on about "political correctness" they're making big deals about ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
Wherever Jesus is these days, I'm certain he's doing this:

(26,696 posts)meteorological, magical, and otherwise secular symbols on a cup (a disposable coffee cup!)--even though the cup is colored a traditional color for the season--and these goofballs take that as an attack?
I would be deeply embarrassed to be associated with anyone--family, friends, or co-religionists--who even considered complaining about such a triviality...

Starbucks REMOVED CHRISTMAS from their cups because they hate Jesus, wrote former Arizona pastor Joshua Feuerstein in a viral Facebook post that had at least 8 million views Saturday night.
Student pastor Nate Weaver at the Crosspointe Christian Church in Sarasota, Fla., vowed to never visit Starbucks ever again.
Im officially banning Starbucks from my life, Weaver wrote in a Facebook post Saturday. With the CEO of the company telling those who support pro-life that they don't want their money and now the Red Holiday cups with nothing that might tie to Christmas on them because they want to be politically correct.

The problem with their being upset is Christian's version of Christmas has nothing to do with reindeer, Christmas trees (they're Pagan) or snowflakes. Which makes all if this people just being outraged for the sake of being outraged.

What does it matter? They're PAPER CUPS. Are people collecting these for holiday tableware decor or something?
Really getting tired of the religious silliness. My 14-year-old wandered into the room last night while this was on the news, and made this observation: "There's red and green on the cups. It's Christmas."
