Nah. I've had Starbucks and all I felt about it was I was way overcharged.

there were VC satchel bombers captured and killed at Udorn, and she actually got to know Gen Vang, the leader of the free Lao forces. Like I said. her war stories are better than mine.

I get the free coffee and meals and all the thanks for serving and she gets bupkis. I did get our church to call her to stand up when we vets get recognized.

I did get a vets discount when I bought my first legal pot in Oregon. That was cool.

I don't drink coffee or frequent Starbucks.

I checked around and what they are offering Vets is their 12 oz 'Tall' coffee. In comparison, McDonald's 'Large' is 16 oz, so yes, that size thing is not equivalent.

But then they added "Short" for certain hot drinks. Then there's Grande (16 oz), Venti (24 oz) and Trenta (31 oz - only for cold drinks). Cuz if you're going to pay that much for a cup of Joe, it better have a fancy name.

Over-roasted and definitely over-priced.

It would seem that the folks who do drink the coffee also have all of the foo-foo crap added to it. Cream, sugar, vanilla, caramel, etc. ad nauseum. Yuk!

The only coffee that I've ever had that was even nastier was at an IHOP in a town that used too much chlorine in their water - and IHOP was too cheap to filter their coffee.

Last month I stayed at a very upscale hotel for a seminar. The only complaint I had about the entire place was that they only coffee available in the hotel was Starbucks. My comment to the clerk as I checked out was that I would not stay at another Sheraton if Starbucks was the only option. If I'd had time to get out of the hotel to get another variety of coffee I would have but that was not possible so for a week all I had for caffeine was Starbucks sludge.

I'm absolutely certain if Jesus came down here today and witnessed what his supposed followers were getting upset about instead of the REAL issues, he would facepalm so hard his hand would go through his face.

He would ask his dad to rewrite the entry rules for the rapture so that it rejected every idiot that went nuts about a cardboard red cup and spread his name in the form of cup hatred.

ugh

We got into this at the office yesterday. Someone mentioned the red cups and I said "What do snowflakes have to do with Jesus?" And they said it was all silly.

But then I brought up "Happy Holidays" and one person said "Oh, that offends me" and another said "Me too!" They seem to think that being offended makes them better Christians.

Are they offended that Jews don't celebrate Christmas? Do they get offended if someone says "Happy Hannukah" to them instead?

If I want to wish someone well for both Christmas and New Year's Day, then what is wrong with saying "holidays"?

I'd love to ask someone who is "offended" by "Happy holidays" a number of questions, because it just makes no sense to me at all.

The bottom line in all of this is that humans from every time and culture have built various observances around the fact that the days get shorter going into December, the solstice occurs, and the days start getting longer (and the opposite in the Southern Hemisphere). Everyone noticed this significant pattern, and it got built into all kinds of cultural observances. That's why there are so many holidays around the solstice, and it is why Christianity decided to appropriate the pre-existing European pagan festivals which occur for the same reason.

Don't people know this?

The issue doesn't matter.
The details don't matter.
The intent doesn't matter.
The side doesn't matter.

If enough people see/hear/experience something, then someone will find a reason to be offended. And these days it will get posted to facebook and lots of other people who wouldn't have even noticed the "offense" will jump in and complain that they are also offended.

Yeah, that's it... it's the KING of all the colors... White is #1!!!
