Washington (CNN) – Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz on Sunday classified Democratic efforts in the Wisconsin recall election as a “test run” for the presidential race.

“It’s given the Obama for America operation an opportunity to do the dry run we need of our massive, significant dynamic grassroots presidential campaign,” the Florida representative said of the battleground state on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

Wasserman Schultz, who is scheduled to campaign with Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett on Tuesday, said he has a “real opportunity” to oust incumbent Republican Gov. Scott Walker in the June 5 election. But she was quick to add it will also test the Obama re-election campaign and the grassroots operation in the state.

Recent polling shows Walker with an edge over his Democratic rival heading into the recall election, the culmination of a two-year fight following the passage of a law that moved to curtail the collective bargaining rights of most Wisconsin state employees.

I'm not sure that D. W-S is the one to give Barrett's campaign the 'kick' it needs. I'd be happy to see VPOTUS in Wisconsin. DO wish Howard Dean were head of Dem Party.

This is so very vital...I find it difficult to understand the hesitancy of the DNC to be front and center on this recall. Maybe they are active behind the scenes and we just don't have the entire picture. I'm glad she's on the move to Wisconsin.

according to a WI Dem rep on Current TV. And I read that it was for nearly three times the $500K they asked for.

Starting a bit late to join the party. Good grief. Pisses me off to no end. The efforts and the cash should have been coming as soon as they knew Barrett was the nominee and even before that they should have been positioned to keep the pressure on Walker via campaigning and advertising.

15. I had this same feeling during during the last Senate race in Arkansas. The White House backed

a blue dog Senator who lost to a Republican. I think they are shy about supporting unions, a terrible mistake if true.

Sometimes I get the feeling that Obama and the DNC have a much more right wing view of governing than the regular rank and file Democrat, i.e. moderate to liberal.
