I guess you probably think the debate the Saturday before Christmas is also a good idea.

Or those who simply believe strongly in democracy and a semblance of fairness in general.

For everyone else, it was a smart and calculated choice.

Not to worry. I'm sure corporate media will bring this out into the open.

From last night which was on an off channel. We can do it especially since ours is on a major network channel CBS. It could be worse, they could have put us on an off channel like they did the GOP.

With a chance of starting their season 10-0 for the first time in history for them if they win the game. Now I'm not going to say that DWS has been trying to buy off their competition to "lose" intentionally, etc. which would be ridiculous, but Iowa's success amplifies why when you put something on in this state, that you make every effort to minimize the potential problems of conflicts like this happening when you are able.

DWS and the DNC should have known the timing of this game, as it was announced before the season started.

Not gonna stop me for cheering for both at the same time though if I can help it. I'll be at a Bernie debate party at a sports bar here where I'm hoping I can have them have at least one of the television sets putting on the game as well there too. Will be hopefully wearing this shirt that I just had made and express shipped to me.

Having the debate broadcast on CBS only makes it easier to surf back and forth.

I'll be watching THE Pac12 game of the week: Oregon Ducks vs Stanford Cardinal

... who might have travelled to Des Moines to see the debate, if it weren't scheduled so badly at the same time?

The DNC is forcing choice upon Iowans, and some who might be more neutral and want to see what Democrats will be presenting to Iowa voters that directly applies to them, which arguably should be made at this location in one of the few debates that are scheduled. You are forcing those neutral voters in to saying "F the Democrats. I'd rather watch Iowa play this game which might be where history is made where they their best season start ever." A very tough choice for those living there. I would have to watch it remotely anyway, as I do normally when living in another state, but I'd prefer to be able to watch both events live if I could. My compromise is a debate party at a sports bar, where hopefully I can keep up with what is happening in both live.

You know, the GOP putting the debate on cable/satellite and on a premium channel at that is really shabby. Democracy in action.

Over 70,000 ticket holders of that game (probably around half of them Democrats) are being forced in to a choice. And as I was noting, part of what debates are are trying to appeal to independents and other voters not already dedicated Democrats to say that they should be voting for Democrats later, and perhaps join the party to attend the caucuses at the beginning of the coming year.

The Iowa caucus is also a unique experience where voters TALK with each other and vote on many issue stances, not just candidates in that process that in effect is the first forum of such at a national level that starts the country's primary season in a unique way. My first presidential election process was attending a caucus there as a college freshman. You pollute that process with many PO'd people asking why the Democratic Party leadership didn't try to push them in to choices, you are talking about limiting the ability to reach out to those in the middle to draw them in as Democrats.

This party's leadership should be more strategically focused on increasing the overall voter base, and not what appears to be mostly trying to rig the process to favor one candidate who wants less public scrutiny when being compared to her primary contenders. Outsiders perceive this, and this will work against the party in general.
