Jimmy Carter: 'Unlimited Political Bribery' subverts nation.
Corporate America is simply rotten and corrupt through and through. Here we have it from the former President Jimmy Carter himself:
The United States is no longer a democracy because of "unlimited political bribery" that's created "a complete subversion of our political system as a payoff to major contributors," former President Jimmy Carter says. In an interview on the "Thom Hartmann Program," Carter said Supreme Court cases like the 2010 Citizens United decision have turned America into an "oligarchy," where wealthy elites wield the most power. "Now it's just an oligarchy, with unlimited political bribery being the essence of getting the nominations for president or to elect the president. And the same thing applies to governors and U.S. senators and Congress members." "The incumbents, Democrats and Republicans, look upon this unlimited money as a great benefit to themselves," Carter added. "Somebody's who's already in Congress has a lot more to sell to an avid contributor than somebody who's just a challenger." In 2012, Carter called the Citizen United decision "the stupidest decision that the Supreme Court ever made," The Hill reported. http://www.newsmax.com/Politics/jimmy-carter-political-bribery-donations/2015/07/31/id/664936/

1. Ronald Reagan's paymasters wanted America to be a plutocracy through and through.
And they got what they wanted and then some.

3. And since Corporate America owns 90% of the news media, because of their non-stop propaganda
and lies, more than half of our nation hasn't got the faintest idea of what's going on.
We've got to elect a real Democratic Congress and President to make changes that our country desperately needs. If we don't, our goose is cooked. |

10. Indeed they did, and so did their fathers,
who backed the Business Plot against FDR and saw Fascist Germany and Italy as the bright, shining wave of the future back in the 1930s. And now their sons carry on their Grand Old (Fascist) Project.
This has been a long time a-brewin'. |

2. Under the bus with Jimmy, for using the "O-word"
That word Oligarchy seems to be deeply offensive to many Clinton fans.

15. Maybe you could develop the habit of looking at the name of the writer of a post first, and
then deciding whether to read it or not.

17. "It rarely comes back to bit (sic) you in the behind." I thought you meant the opposite
of what you wrote within the quotes. So, if you avoided reading these posts, your
"behind" wouldn't be hurting. ![]() |

7. I like pretending its use is offensive to merely one demographic too
I like pretending its use is offensive to merely one demographic too. And much like you, we'll merely cower behind implication rather than illustrate our courage by stating specifically who we're talking about. And like you, I often ignore context when it becomes convenient to do so. Faith-based reality is way fun... and super cool, too!

9. Yes. He is one of those rare decent human beings. He'd probably place a good deal
of emphasis in his choice of another decent human being. Of course, there are also
other important factors to take into consideration. |

8. Jimmy Carter - a decent and honest man to the core of his being.
I hope I see the day when Citizens United joins Dred Scott, Plessy, and Korematsu is retired to the SCOTUS Hall of Shame, but I don't know how that could happen within fifty years outside of a constitutional amendment.

14. A"Hall of Shame" means nothing to these guys, because shame is a sentiment that's
completely meaningless to them. That's why they are not bothered by what they do.

22. I looked up an estimation of the iq of the latest 12 presidents (6 Dem. and 6 Repub). Bill
Clinton's is the highest at 182. Number 2 is Carter with 175. These are incredibly high scores
in the genius range. Perhaps 1 in a million score 175 and higher. Carter is the only president who had released his real IQ score: 176. This is very close to the estimated 175. GHW Bush scored 98, and GW Bush 91. http://cseweb.ucsd.edu/~gary/iq.html (The punch-line of this link is at the very end) |
