Anonymous 'Artist' Draws Penises Around Potholes to Get Them Repaired

Sometimes, when you can’t get your municipal government to respond to your pleas, you’re forced to take matters into your own hands. At least, that seems to be the philosophy of one anonymous Islamabad-based graffiti "artist.” The spraypaint-wielding agitator has been taking to the streets drawing penises around troublesome craters in city roads. Because, while it is often difficult to get the city to dispatch repair people to fix potholes, it’s almost universally true that they can’t seem to send workers to get rid of “obscene” graffiti fast enough.

The Daily Pakistan Global notes that the unknown virtuoso has definitely taken notes from Wansky, a Manchester, England figure who employed the same method to call attention to potholes in his own hometown. In Wanksy’s case, the tactic worked: though previous calls about the potholes yielded no response, the phallus-encircled potholes were fixed within 48 hours.

The problem around here isn't potholes, it's asphalt that softens in the desert sun and then gets ruts worn in it. I suppose somebody with a can of spray paint could do it here, but it would have to be a lo-o-ong schlong.

9. That is very clever on at several levels.

- It's funny

- It's attention grabbing yet absolutely harmless, though some of the pearl-clutching persuasion will surely disagree, and no public property is destoyed

- It rapidly gets the desired response (filling the pothole) from the right people (streets department)

- It's FUNNY.
