Scout flag project has a glitch, but they are up this morning (photo added)

A couple months ago a young Scout knocked on our door. He was offering to put flags up on several summer holidays for a $35 fee. We jumped at it. Then somebody complained to the city. They will be resetting the flag holders behind the sidewalk in a few days. The neighborhood looks beautiful this morning.

Scouts also spent the last week putting small flags on all the Veteran's graves in the cemetery.

The email I got last night: Thank you very much for your support!

After we installed the foundations into the ground, the Bellevue Public Works office called and said there was a complaint from someone in the neighborhood that the flags should not be located between the sidewalk and the curb (technically, city right of way). While the Public Works office had approved every installation we made, they were compelled to call and ask us to move the flags to the other side of the sidewalk.

Our plan is to use the existing flag foundations for tomorrow since we don't have time to change. Within the next few weeks, John Paul will be coming around again and asking for an alternate location on the other side of the sidewalk. In the off chance that someone complains tomorrow, please refer them to me and I will be happy to explain the situation and our plan to follow the city desires completely in the near future.
