WI Recall: Barrett: 'It's all about getting a monster turnout'

Beloit - Democrat Tom Barrett met with about 50 supporters in a storefront office downtown about 9 a.m. Monday, preparing to walk along the city's Memorial Day parade route.

"It's all about getting a monster turnout" in the June 5 recall election, said Barrett, wearing a dress shirt, khakis and tennis shoes in the heat.

Barrett's wife, Kris, is from Beloit.

Beloit's parade stepped off shortly before 9:30 a.m. just over the border in South Beloit, Ill. Barrett walked along the sidewalk to within a half-block of the Welcome to Illinois sign but waited for his car to cross into Wisconsin before stepping in behind it and joining in the parade on foot.

Barrett also plans to shake hands at Bratfest in Madison later Monday morning, a campaign aide said.

Parade watcher Cindy Ferger, a Beloit police officer, said she will vote for Barrett because she believes Walker does not support public employees. She said she hopes Barrett can win but is concerned because signs around Beloit seem evenly divided between the two candidates.

"I think it's going to be an uphill battle, but if everyone gets out (to vote), he's got a chance," Ferger said of Barrett.

Are they offered for adoption by their parents, or just publicly spanked?

But seriously, folks, I understand that the early voter turnout has been most encouraging!

Phone bank or donate if you can! And it turns out that all those Walker yard signs may NOT be anything to worry about!
