That's what I'd be saying if I were a Democratic pundit, at least. Right-wingers despise weakness most of all, and the Romney campaign is handing critics an opportunity to define their candidate as delicate and easily hurt.
First he cries foul when people mention his religion. Then he says it's not fair to talk about his money and privilege. Then he doesn't want to talk about his time as a Governor. Now Republicans are saying it's not fair for his opponents to talk about the business he himself talks about all the time.
Did he think everyone would just spend a few months talking about how great his hair looks, then take a vote?

(81,220 posts)Delicate as can be in Paris, taking cover in that "champagne-missionary-division" during Vietnam, when others went to fight and die. Guess he couldn't afford to get his nice, clean, white, fingernail-polished hands dirty or that nice hair too mussed up.

(34,658 posts)When I was a temp at a large corporation I would occasionally get assigned to the 30th floor, where the top execs were. I couldn't wear slacks to work, had to wear a dress. But most of the "work" would involve making sure the exec got his orange juice, greeting his visitors, and occasional correspondence. They hardly got any mail.
Back on the other floors there would be a ton of mail to sort, documents to produce, and you'd be answering the phones for 3 or 4 people.
When you get to the executive level its all about looking nice and ordering lunch in.
Romney was born on the 30th floor.

The delicate rich kid whose father gave him everything he could ever want and who refused to do hard work or eat simple food to earn his keep on the fishing boat. The spoiled kid who threatened his friends by telling them he would get his rich father to fire their dads.

(14,549 posts)since that is so key to the RW base.
Previous attempts to talk about strategy and segmentation here have gone poorly but....
The reasons we don't like Romney are very different from the reasons that the RW base does not like Romney. The GOP primaries show exactly what the RW does not like about Romney:
- he is the father of Obama-care
- 2nd generation big government insider
- Romney is a moderate (or even "limosine liberal RINO" pretending to be a conservative
What the RW DOES like about Romney:
- he is white, real white, 1950s white
- he is perceived as a successful business man, eg. "rich" like they wanna be
- bullied a gay kid
- Liberals hate him
Ideally Romney gets hammered from the left and right but for the RW base the most effective damage to Mitt has already been done. I think we help Romney when we say simply that he is rich and has rich friends, but when the same angle is centered around Bain, vulture capitalism and job destruction it can work against Romney.
