Got hope for the living
Got prayers for the dead...
"Cuz the Pope is a fraud
The Church is a lie
The Queen is the same damn thing
You should pray to your fake God
That she die.
I tell you like this
God really exist
He reside inside
And anyone tellin' you different
Just sellin' you religion
Tryin' to keep your ass in line.
I killed my masters
I mentored none
That means when I die that's it
Style is gone
Number one of one
One half of the great
R T J
Defeated the odds
Went to war with the gods
Earned all our scars
And came back straight."

No need for this to muck up General Discussion, particularly with false crap like this.

(39,961 posts)I'm pretty sure you can come up with a reason to denounce Bernie Sanders campaign and his supporters.
"anti-Catholic"? You are going to have to explain that to a woman of Irish Catholic descent.
Things went awry when some of our family got on the Southern Baptist bandwagon, but general principle is still there.

(57,349 posts)In what universe does calling a homophobic, misogynistic bigot a "fraud" make one a bigot?
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)as intensely bigoted. But thanks for the smile.
As for Killer Mike, he rejects all institutions that people allow authority over their beliefs, not just the Catholic church. I certainly can't complain about that. I idolize no leader, obey no authority without question, just never wrote it in a poem. Others are proud and grateful that they feel very differently; their choice.
Bigot: a person who strongly and unfairly dislikes other people, ideas, etc. A bigoted person; especially a person who hates or refuses to accept the members of a particular group (such as a racial or religious group)
Bigoted: having or revealing an obstinate belief in the superiority of one's own opinions and a prejudiced intolerance of the opinions of others.

(45,319 posts)is the walking definition of a bigot, making Mike spot on.
Those of you who endorse the Pope take a position in support of forbidding of condoms to people in African HIV hot zones. For example, Uganda is 44% Catholic, 7.2% of the people have HIV, over 60,000 Ugandans die from AIDS each year, there are over 650,000 orphans created by AIDS in Uganda and Francis, he comes to Congress to announce that he is 'concerned about threats to the family' but he does not mean 650,000 orphans or 60,000 Ugandan dead nor the 1.4 million dead in greater Africa every single year. Francis is concerned with the 'threat' of people getting married.
Is it ethical to ignore that stark reality? DU's Francis fans become angry at those of us who speak about these human beings, who are just as real as you and me. They often say Francis' anti-contraception teachings do not matter because Americans just ignore them 'we all use contraception, the Church does not control us, we just ignore them because we know better' but they fail to talk about how those teaching work in places that are not rich and educated and American.
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)of a world of contempt. When some truth is not available, justification is just made up and internalized. Always. There is no difference between a racial bigot and a religious bigot. The hostility comes FIRSTand then reasons found to explain it.
Where's the balance, guys? Where are acknowledgement and respect for all the good the church does when it's not serving evil, or whatever? Where are acknowledgement and respect for the needs and beliefs of more than 2 billion Catholics for whom the church is such an important part of their live?
Discarded into that black hole where Pat Robertson's nascent respect for non-white peoples disappeared, never to be seen again?

(57,349 posts)How about being hostile to misogyny, is that bigotry?
Religious intolerance is no different than any other kind.
The pope doesn't get a pass on his bigotry because of his religion.

(57,349 posts)You don't get to redefine calling out of a religious leader who preaches hatred to millions and wants to deny others our human rights as bigotry.
Intolerant religious ideology should be called out, as often and as loudly as possible, to do so isn't bigotry.
Using your definition anyone who dislikes extreme right wing ideology, racism, misogyny, anti-Semitism, homo/transphobia, Islamophobia, etc is a "bigot".
This isn't a Republican website, there is no war on Christians and calling the pope a bigot because he is one isn't bigotry.
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)Very typical. Interestingly, social scientists say that people prone to "bias," are almost never biased just against one target but normally all groups that aren't like them and that in some way arouse their hostility. That's because the bias comes from within, targets for the hostility and aggression identified after.
So a person who's racially biased has almost certainly been struggling a bit with the recent love-the-Jews they're-going-to-die-for-us end-times theme of evangelicals. Expecting them to die fighting Islam is the easy part, of course, the love not so much.

Apologists for bigoted ideology love to claim the bigots are the real victims.
Your defense of a religious bigot who uses his influence to campaign against the human rights of women and lgbt people is noted.
It confirms what I already suspected about you.

(36,437 posts)For the record, I am a huge fan of RTJ and Killer Mike, and posted this to show that he's one of the most talented hip hop artists out there. I mean, how can you watch that collab with TV on the Radio and not be like "Daaaaaaaayum."
Not everything is primary sniping. Jeez.

(15,715 posts)get 7 inches of rain this weekend, and I can't figure out if it is because of HRC or Bernie. We all know that if Bernie had just voted for the Iraq War resolution that the war would have been over in a couple of weeks and we would have been welcomed with the Iraqis throwing rose petals in from of them. Or if HRC had just voted no that we would have never gone.
It's primary season, everything is because of one of them and not the fault of any republicans.
I liked his speech. I have never heard of him before but "Daaaaaaaayum."

(135,425 posts)idea who the hell he is. This association with Sanders might make a few more people aware of him, but it's not going to put him into the Top Forty.
A lot of people just aren't interested in learning who he is, either. Why? Because his style of music has limited appeal.
That's life.
There's a large number of people in America who are uninterested in square dancing, too. That doesn't mean people are "hating on" square dancing.
To each their own.
