With that in mind, it matters a great deal that President Obama has nominated Adam Szubin to serve as the Treasury Departments under secretary for terrorism and financial crimes. As the Huffington Post reported last week, this specific job involves tracking terrorists to prevent them from raising money on the black market and elsewhere.
The good news is, Szubin enjoys bipartisan support, and Senate Banking Committee Chairman Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) has praised his past work in taking on terrorist financing in previous administrations.
The bad news is, Szubins nomination has been pending since mid-April over 200 days ago and the Senate Republican leadership hasnt bothered to bring the nomination to the floor for a vote, despite the fact that he faces no real opposition.

The Islamic State funds race (translated from French)
Daech: a State? A territory ? A little of this, but also "a bloodthirsty predatory economy". Thus the calls an Iraqi scientist who wishes to remain anonymous. While the "Caliphate" is proclaimed under intense shelling and that its territory is reduced (see page 5), executives of the group, amount of shell companies and offshore accounts in tax havens, what could foreshadow be the Islamic state (EI) tomorrow supraterritorial a terrorist group such as Al-Qaeda was in its infancy. This change requires money. Revenue, expenditure and surplus: the organization does not recruit as fighters, but also financial.
Where does the money available to the EI?
First of taxes collected from captive populations. Difficult to estimate the amounts, although Iraqi researchers put the figure at $ 300 million (approximately EUR 279 million) in taxes. The areas under the control of Islamic state are "real breadbasket," including Iraq. Again, by nature, difficult to give a figure, but the smuggling of grain would yield just over $ 200 million. Trafficking in antiquities, 100 million. Kidnapping, forty in 2014. These figures are given by economist Christian Chavagneux, editor in Alternatives économiques.
To this must be added "donors". According to a source attached by Libération, which wishes to remain anonymous donations channeled through Islamist NGOs. Some of these financial flows are from Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

They're indirectly contributing to ISIS by obstruction.

The only reason the pukes try to subvert the President is they have gotten away with it.

(22,666 posts)BINGO.
Can you imagine the outcry by media and others if DEMOCRATIC lawmakers obstructed a GOP President like this?
But it's Obama so no big deal.
Double standard duJour.

(82,849 posts)It's almost as if the Republicans are more interested in playing politics than in actually governing the country. But that can't be true, because the popular media would be all over them. Right?
