Active shooter in Colorado Springs...near Planned Parenthood

Police are involved in an active shooter at a Colorado Springs branch of Planned Parenthood Friday afternoon.

The state's police union says one officer was wounded in the situation, but the source of the information was not immediately clear.

The city's fire department tweeted about the situation about 11:45 a.m. The branch is located at 3480 Centennial Blvd., just east of the Garden of the Gods.

"The area is NOT secure," police said in a tweet.

Lt. Catherine Buckley, a Colorado Springs police spokeswoman, told The Denver Post she did not immediately have information on the situation.

"We were looking out the window and we had an officer wave us back inside," said Brigitte Wolfe, who works Jun Japanese Restaurant next door. "They have everything blocked off."

Wolfe said there are roughly a dozen police vehicles at the scene. She said officers have guns drawn and are facing the Planned Parenthood branch.
