that war pushing warrior worshipping bunch is the same crowd that insists that the nation is founded on principles set forth by the Prince of Peace. Why, one could almost believe that they just need the guy around to provide a palatable facade for their oh-so-profitable warmaking. Shocked, I tells ya, just shocked.

If somebody could figure out a way to make money off peace, we'd have it all the time.

you know, the end of the "war to end all wars"

but it got changed into honoring Veterans instead, much like another Memorial Day. Except maybe that one IS celebrated in the South.

...this is a tribute to those who gave all for their country, not a celebration of the military or those who've served (that's Veteran's day).

The most sickening parts of the holiday are the corporations that embrace the day as a chance to sell more Chinese manufactured crap and those who wish veterans like me Happy Memorial Day. Tell that to these family members:

People died and died young. Left Wives and kids. "Happy?"

So we have been saying "Emotionally appropriate memorial day."

Not so others could live, but because some arrogant prick decided he wanted to convince a bunch of guys with guns to go beat on a bunch of other guys with guns, and like stupid gullible humans we just keep going along with it. Never learn, and now they get their claws in this. Have to celebrate the sacrifice. Screw that, MOURN the sacrifice, don't make the same mistakes they made, don't follow the insane power hungry scum bags. But they run the world, tell you what to think, what to eat, how to move about, so really, what can you do. It's hard to see another way, maybe it is there, but not if we can't talk to each other, not if we can't build communities with each other, if we can't laugh and play with each other in harmony. Remember the dead, because soon you or your children will be forced to relive their mistakes, until we finally figure it out and get it right.

Maybe I can make that happen.
