(9,951 posts)rare occasions considering how many firearms are in private hands.
I don't walk around in fear of my fellow Americans who may or may not have firearms, I've got much better things to do with my life.

(1,926 posts)To defend themselves!
Do you have anyone you know who worships their guns, and are disturbed? I do.
I have a few friends, and I wonder why it is so important that they carry, and the odds of shooting themselves or their kids are insanely high, compared to using the gun for any kind of defense.

GGJohn
(9,951 posts)If not, then you are part of the problem.
I have a CHL, in no way am I any danger to society at large, just those that have a desire to harm me or my wife.

(24,853 posts)If what you said is true; "Do you have anyone you know who worships their guns, and are disturbed? I do.", then YOU should be held legally responsible for their actions if they injure or kill someone on purpose.
If you don't do that; YOU ARE AS MUCH A PART OF THE PROBLEM AS ANY CRAZY PERSON WITH A GUN.
I'm fucking blown away that you don't see that.

I am from a rural part of the state.
Most people probably have guns there.

(24,853 posts)"Do you have anyone you know who worships their guns, and are disturbed? I do."
This says in no uncertain terms that you know people who HAVE guns (worships their guns), and are disturbed.
If any of those people you mentioned cause an active shooter incident, you should be charged as an accomplice.

(4,229 posts)There are enough people who are against any restriction of guns that they can put people in office.
The democrats can't even get union members or people who depend on social programs to reliably vote, so to get the gun control people to vote as a block is hard.
Also there are a lot of dems who vote against any politician who is for gun control, and ALL republicans do. There are not enough republicans who vote for gun control.
So it's a matter of bipartisanship vs 1 party and an issue of motivation.
When enough people feel they might have a chance of getting shot then there may be a gun control voting block and we'll see some change.

It's much more a "Rural/Urban" divide than a "Repuke/Democrat" one. In the rural areas, people tend to "get their own" if they fear someone may be trying to shoot them.
ManiacJoe
(10,136 posts)Your crazy people need mental health care.
Part of that care gets them on the "no guns" list.
That list prevents future purchases and current ownership.
