A man was detained Monday afternoon at the Memorial Hospital Central parking garage as police investigated reports of a "suspicious person" making threats to shoot one of the victims from Friday's deadly Planned Parenthood attack, police said.

The man, whose identity was not released, was questioned and released after police did not consider him a threat, said Sgt. James Sokolik, a Colorado Springs police spokesman.

Sokolik said he did not immediately know the man's motivation.

Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs was on lockdown earlier today after threats were received:

What the hell are can we do about it in a free republic? Certainly something.

I think public ridicule may be helpful.

...threatening to shoot someone a threat, or maybe the police are right wing, and judges the victim as not worth protection? Between police actions brought to national attention by the Black Lives Matter movement, and my own interactions with police, it seems police judgements are greatly tinged by personal biases. When the white male across the street was shooting at us, the police practically demanded to know what we had done to deserve it.
This officer should be identified and reported. The Planned Parenthood attacks were covered nationally, so his department might be afraid of embarrassment if they release someone who openly threatened violence, and then he subsequently commits said violence.
That seems to be the only thing that might curb rampant police violence and bias in America- shame. There seem to be few actual consequences in terms of criminal punishments, for police whose right wing or racist views are acted out on the job. But many police departments seem to greatly want to avoid being the next national embarrassment to their uniforms. Public shaming may be the only, and most powerful, weapon We The People have against the overly militarized, overly right-leaning, self-perpetuating fascist corruption that has infected US police departments.
