Surely, a passport photo is available, if nothing else?

(3,212 posts)She doesn't deserve that respect, imo.
Meanwhile all of the dead are still in the conference room while their families grieve hoping against hope that their loved one is not in that room and is just - somehow - missing.

(13,985 posts)I couldn't believe my eyes.. I know they have to investigate, but leaving those bodies laying around like that for almost 24 hours is beyond horible.

(2,003 posts)The siblings have different middle names. Some media outlets posted photos of the brother which were later retracted but not before being widely circulated.
I'm guessing these two probably didn't take any ID with them when they went on their rampage and last I heard, their home was booby-trapped with explosives. If this is the case, it can't be thoroughly searched until the bomb squad has declared it safe. Even then, there's a good chance the only two photos of this woman in existence are on her passport, wherever that might be and the photo used for her spousal non-immigrant green card on file with USCIS. She might not have even had a driver's license.
Given the commonality of Muslim names, as well as the many alternate spellings, digging up these pics may take time. Nobody wants to publish a photo of the wrong person and ruin that individual's reputation. Not to mention a libel case.

(12,647 posts)She also has a stylish long bob hairstyle, just wears "modest" clothes (never saw bare arms) with an occasional long scarf she drapes around her shoulders when she wears short sleeves. She, her surgeon husband and adult daughter (also a rheumatologist) share a large practice with a pair of Iranian Christian GPs and Geriatrics specialists.
Laughs and jokes with us all the time, has no problems at all with male patients. The only reason we know she's devout is that she schedules her office hours around prayer time and is only open mornings on Friday before she and her husband head to a local mosque.
There are as many different ways to view Islam as there is Christianity, Judaism, or any other hierarchal religion. It depends on the nature of the person and their personal spirituality along with the level of domination they'll accept from a proclaimed sectarian authority.

(89,247 posts)As it is a part of their culture.
Yes it is considered too revealing by some conservative types but there are some muslim women who are not restricted and will wear it.
MoonRiver
(36,926 posts)Also the San Bernadino shooter stated that he was looking for a bride who "wears the hijab." That picture simply cannot be her.
JI7
(89,247 posts)of course they wont wear it in a mosque just as muslim women who wear shorts will not wear them in a mosque.
but for everyday wear and other non religious things they would wear it.
not ALL and maybe not in the same numbers as hindu and other indian women. but it is not unusual at all for them to wear saris as it is more part of the culture .

(14,881 posts)Do women in Pakistan wear a saree and bindi ?
On watching Pakistani journalist Marvi Sirmed on YouTube for the first time, I was surprised to see that a Pakistani woman was wearing a saree as well as a bindi.
I was under the assumption that salwar kameez is the standard choice of attire in Pakistan. The presence of bindi was even more baffling.
Marvi Sirmed
social activist, secularist, journalist.
and here (link below pic) is a video where Mr. Zaid Hamid is attacking her for her adopting Hindu fashion. She is muslim btw
