5 p.m. Saturday update: While Fridays convocation may have ended, the applause and criticism that came after Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr. urged students to get permits to carry concealed weapons has not.
The Washington Post, CNN, NBC, Esquire, Politico and several other news sources from around the country have picked up the story this weekend after Falwells remarks starting trending.
In a 2½-minute address before dismissing the students, Falwell urged students to take advantage of the universitys free class for concealed-carry permits as a way to counter attacks similar to the bloodshed in San Bernardino, California, on Wednesday.
Lets teach them a lesson if they ever show up here, Falwell told the students.

(50,563 posts)Good guns cost hundreds of dollars. Then there's ammo for target practice, range rental fees, holsters, cleaning supplies, an army helmet to wear in the firefight Falwell fantasizes about...
Last I checked most college students have a hard time finding money for food. How in HELL are they going to get the money to buy GUNS?
