(23,664 posts)1. Trump relentlessly portrays Obama as an incompetent wimp who is afraid to stand up for America.
2. He links Hillary to Obama by virtue of our screwups in Libya, Syria and elsewhere, implying that she too is a wimp.
3. Hillary eagerly takes the bait and strongly distances herself from Obama's foreign policies, telling anybody that will listen that she will pursue a much more manly course of action when it comes to dealing with terrorism, Arabs, Muslims, Iran, Putin, etc. etc.
4. The Democratic base, horrified at Hillary's belligerent tone, neocon sounding speeches and betrayal of a popular Democratic president, stays home in droves on election day.
5. Trump's nutty supporters show up by the millions and he is easily elected president.
At this point the Democratic party will have a decision to make. It can either continue its decline into irrelevance or it can wake up, purge itself of the Clintons, Turd Way, Loserman Schultz, corporate stooges who have nearly destroyed it and become the true people's party again.

Bernie supporters who have been encouraged not to vote for Hillary in any case by GOP trolls...will they not find themselves more afraid of Trump? I think so. It will be a blowout. Many are predicting that. The GOP is already telling the senators running in 2016 not to tie themselves to Trump in any way....starting right now. That is how scared they are of Trump running.

(23,664 posts)But I think it is much worse in the republican party because they have spent decades creating the fanatical fringe base that now threatens to devour the entire party and its going to bite them in the ass this time. The GOP power structure is scared of Trump because they created the media/propaganda infrastructure that led to the rise of Trump style candidates. And now they are running out of time to defuse the bomb they prepared.
Hillary will not be able to mobilize younger voters, and she will lose the African American vote if she strongly distances herself from Obama. She has no personal magnetism, no charisma, and she comes off unfriendly and aloof. Trump will kick her ass.

(4,959 posts)about this. Trump is like the poster boy representing the most insidious elements of the world. Fascism, genocide, poverty and suffering.
I can barely allow myself to recognize he, or anyone like him, is a viable, serious contender for president. That he is being taken seriously.
This should be dark satire, not reality.

(24,692 posts)A tried-and-true conservative tactic particularly when directed against foreigners - "usually outsiders like illegal immigrants (theyre pouring in), Syrian migrants (young, strong men) and Mexicans".

(179,822 posts)The Texas GOP is trying to justify some voter purges https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/texas-secretary-of-state-questions-citizenship-of-95000-registered-voters/ar-BBSKH7x?fbclid=IwAR2WBZ_e7FstfaVYxnjTybriiy2CMV87aj8uf1rmVsJ_ovSvQdFfurdFCrA
Because we have consistently seen Texas politicians conjure the specter of voter fraud as pretext to suppress legitimate votes, we are naturally skeptical, Representative Rafael Anchia, a Democrat in the Texas House of Representatives, said in a statement.
Kristen Clarke, the president of the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, also cautioned that the states findings, and the speed with which the attorney general raised the specter of prosecution, could foreshadow an attempt at voter suppression.
Texas has a rich history of undertaking action to make it harder for people to vote, she said. Whenever youre invoking the threat of criminal prosecution, the chilling effect becomes almost unavoidable.
