See mom, it's OK to call Omaha home. At least that's what Kiplinger.com posted.

The personal finance magazine has recognized Omaha as one of the Top 10 Great Cities to Raise Your Kids. The very top spot, in fact.

Kiplinger.com then analyzed educational and fun factors and selected the cities that have it all.

Douglas County also has one of the largest rates of STD's in the nation. Unusually high infant mortality in its African American community. Large amounts of unemployment in the northeast side. Police beatings caught on tape. And it has at least 20 shooting deaths per shooting season. Good thing it has two emergency rooms capable of handling gunshot wounds. I hear from ER docs this is almost unheard of in cities of Omaha's size.
